    Great shop in Goreme
We purchased some beautiful cushions here. The first lot of cushions were so amazing that we came back twice more to make more purchases! Ruth and her team were so friendly and patient as we looked through all their cushions and took forever making our decisions. We would have bought more if we had more luggage allowance as the cushions really are amazing and very reasonably priced. Ruth knows a lot about rugs, cushions and life in Turkey. A must visit if you’re in Goreme.

Simply the most impressive collection of rugs that I’ve seen outside of a museum; I will be a lifelong customer.
I spent two afternoons in the shop, and felt like I was in a high end rug museum. The owner is incredibly knowledgeable, credible, and a master of her trade. What is nice is that she has a full array of rugs to choose from for those with a limited budget to prices you would expect to pay for rare, collectible rugs. I’m sure I’ll be a lifelong customer.

    Pleasant kilim shopping experience
Great experience selecting several rugs, plus a few pillow covers and small bags for gifts. Ruth and her staff are helpful, polite, and easy to work with to find the style and price point. Recommend and would return!

    Knowledge, patience and care
The extensive collection of rugs, pillow cases and accessories Ruth has personally reviewed and stocked, showcase the knowledge and taste of a knowledgeable trader. If you have the time, and I suggest you do, Ruth's extensive knowledge of carpets, tribal nuances, fabrics and processes is extensive and very informative. This is no 'see it buy it' stop if you want to really know and love the carpet that will be special to you for years. With patience and genuine care with no hard sell, Ruth, with the more than capable Usman, will show you as many carpets as required and the story of each of them. If you buy, you will have a lifetime of connection with that piece of unique culture. I know we have.

    If a carpet could fly….
If a carpet could fly, this is definitely where you would find one. There is something almost magical about this place, as we moved from the main showroom down to a subterranean display area, with beautiful hand woven rugs at every turn. The owner, Ruth, spent time with us explaining the history, provenance and style of various rugs; and what the patterns symbolised. We didn’t appreciate that the craft of rug making was mostly mastered by women, and that each rug tells a story of its creator. This shop is well worth a visit, and will be on our list again next time we visit Goreme.

Visiting with Ruth at her shop in Cappadocia was one of the highlights of my visit to Turkey. Sitting on the comfortable sofa with her cat on my lap, I listened to her discuss the provenance of the items in her shop which ultimately led to her finding the perfect runner for my home back "in the states". Her reputation speaks to how she treats her clients and I intend to order from her on-line in the future.

Tucked away, but worth a visit. We entered, as my wife said, "just to look." Ha; eye-popping appeal with the quality and selection of rugs, pillow cases, table coverings and the sorts.

Met by a very gentle and pleasant person who took the time to show us all we wanted in an unhurried, no push environment - very pleased, and sad to say that many shop owners just do not get it - but these folks do.

Pricing is excellent and we left with the purchase of a hall rug and will now be ordering two more rugs for our home via Internet. We trust Ruth the owner and her staff, the quality is without question and no BS pricing.

Thanks, Ruth. It was a pleasure meeting you and your staff.

Best wishes from Canada.

Generally speaking, I don't typically write reviews here but I had such a wonderful experience that I felt it was necessary. Entering the shop with the intention of having a browse, I had met Ruth the owner. She was friendly and gave me the space I needed to absorb all of the beautiful objects (having shopped in Turkey quite a lot, I can tell you how rare this is). To be honest, I had no intention of buying a rug - I thought perhaps a few pillowcases and such but I was so impressed with the variety that I asked to see a few that caught my eye. Her unparalleled knowledge and generosity were evident as I took more time than I should have in choosing! As the rug I choose was over 60 years old, it needed a few repairs. Her skilled assistant in the shop did an amazing job. As I was leaving that afternoon, she even had it couriered to my hotel in Istanbul. If you are considering a rub purchase in Turkey, this is the place to do it!

The best quality and service for Rugs, Kilims, cushions in Cappadocia and arguably Turkey. Ruth has been living in the region for decades and has the knowledge and best quality, vintage, original rugs and knows all their history. She has an eye for detail, is patient (even lets you stay the whole day pulling out everything to look at and makes you feel at home offering delicious Tea). She has the knack to look at a kilim and tell you exact what area it came from and tell you the story behind each piece. Don’t miss this place, avoid the sellers on the Main Street and go straight to the top with Ruth.
She can package and ship to your country once you have chosen your forever piece and offers certificate of authentication. Not to be missed on your Cappadocia itinerary.
She shipped my rugs back to Australia for me and they arrived home safe and boxed before I had gotten off the plane.

I spent a lovely couple of hours chatting amd selecting a rug from Ruth, owner of Tribal Collections-Nomadic Rugs.
Ruth is a NZer and has lived in Turkey for 30 plus years and her collection and knowledge of rugs both personal and for sale is remarkable.
She has Osman there who "shows" the rugs and keeps it all organised.
Once you have selected and purchased you are provided with a certificate of authenticity with the official stamp.
Loved every moment spent with Ruth and Osman...thank you.

My parents and I first met Ruth in the early 2000s. Last spring during the midst of the pandemic, I worked via email with Ruth to select some kilim cushion covers for the house my husband and I had just moved into. The attached picture are a mix of some I purchased in 2015 during a visit to Turkey and some that were shipped to us during the pandemic. Online ordering was easy and secure, and shipping was fast. But nothing compares to actually visiting her store.

Far from the pressure most carpet sellers inflict, Ruth at Tribal Collections offers relaxed hospitality. And a wealth of expertise born of passion for the craft represented throughout her store and, perhaps most importantly, for the creators themselves. You can and will sit for hours asking questions and discussing and learning while she and her assistant, the most wonderful Osman, provide a personal clinic and show and tell. It is worth the trip just to visit them.
I have long had a casual interest in textiles. Ruth met me where I am. And excited the rattle of a deeper curiosity. I especially appreciate that she challenges some of the typical notions other sellers pedal. For example, based on her research and years of talking to the women who weave the kilims I fell in love with, she makes the case that what others perceive as running out of a dye or a failure of symmetry is truly the whimsy of the creator of the rug. She celebrates the now-nameless and faceless artisans who have dared to do what they wanted in their work, who have the audacity to put such colors together to make such functional art. Ruth has the passion for the craft and moreso, the creators of each piece. I came away with several rugs but more important, I left the store with a deep appreciation for the people who weaved them and an abiding respect love for the people at Tribal Collections. Ruth is a treasure in own right. Her journey as a western woman in a man’s world of carpet sellers is inspiring, hilarious, admirable and heroic.
Tribal Collections made our trip so wonderful, and we say that having experienced so much of what the area has to offer.

Wow - I dont know how I missed seeing this amazing review . Reading it really made me feel humble and thrilled at the same time especially as for me it really is as much about the wonderful people that I love sharing my passion with, as it is about the rugs and weavers themselves. It is all such a unique world and I am so appreciative that you enjoyed sharing it with me as I did with you. And thank you for your very kind comments about Osman who really is wonderful and one of the best workers I have had over these many years. I read them out to him and he was delighted . Its people like you who make my job a real joy and I thank you so much for all your amazing comments . It means a lot . I hope we get to spend time together again one day in the future and until then enjoy your gorgeous rugs ! Many thanks again Ruth :) x

I’m not one for purchasing an item online, as you hear about items arriving and they look nothing like what you thought you bought. But I recently had the most positive experience dealing with Ruth at Tribal Collections. Ruth truly does give exceptional service, it’s taken many months of emails and photos back and forth until we finally found one. It arrived today in record time, and we love it. Exactly what we hoped for. Thank you Ruth, no wonder you consistently achieve 5 star ratings.

I did a lot of research on rug shops before visiting Turkey and Ruth’s shop is the ONLY one I planned to visit. She was so kind and generous with her time and knowledge, answering our questions and offering advice. It was not the traditional pushy rug sale, it was really enjoyable and educational. I was able to learn a lot and choose items that were authentic and fit my taste. Don’t go anywhere else, this is the only stop you need.
