Rayong’s Mae Ramphueng Beach is a 10 km strip of golden sand, with 40 meter- tall stately Casuarina Pines and palms trees on one side and the gently lapping waters of the Gulf of Thailand on the other. The beach runs almost exactly west- east...More

Lovely sandy beach. Unfortunately lots of biting red ants on the path and grass to get to it. Quite a lot of litter about.

There are several very nice condo's and Air B&B's with beautiful pools and its a quiet area with few tourists in this period. Unfortunately the beach poses several problems: there is plastic along the entire length of the beach, there are strong currents and sand...More

The long beach looks beautiful but the water has a lot of plastic. The Thai food in the area is a little bland and the sand is too firm to lie on. But lovely for long walks and paddles

Unobstructed horizon line, watching the locals go about their business, and above all, checking out the starry sky at night, are a few things that make this beach pleasant.

I have previously reviewed Mae Ramphueng Beach and criticised local authorities for allowing the beach to be turned into a garbage dump, with bottles, plastic, polystyrene, and the detritus from fishing boats littering the beach from one end to the other. Then inexplicably the beach...More
