visited here many years ago.heard that it has a renovation.so this year,when i had my Nov-Dec trip to Bali,on the last day,i came here with my driver.after renovation,now all stalls moved to the new building.i think the old market more charming,i remember it is open air,.now there are many levels in the building,they even have a lift! too modern. there are frutis, veggies,clothes,snacks, traditional stuffs on sale here.i bought some snacks, like peanuts,pie susu,bali dessert.i bargained with the seller,and got a rather good price.if you love to see everyday life of local people,pasar badung still worth a visit.

I come to Pasar Badung in 1994 for a first time.Its good but a dirty place. The old building it's burning few years ago and the new it's a clean and spacious market.

I like to have a signature fabrics from where ever I go.
There's a lot of place in Bali offers traditional and signature fabrics. But I found Pasar Badung is the most comfort traditional market I've ever known in Bali. (please inform me if there's more else)
Fabrics are varies from religious purposes fabrics, Batik Bali, Kebaya Bali, to imported fabrics from other side of Indonesia even from outside of Indonesia. Travelers interested to a most traditional signatures fabrics, crafts, hand-held items, signature foods, goods, can come deep inside the Pasar Badung Building which has 3 floor, all occupied by merchants with not so friendly face but very nice to have price-bargain with.
Those interested in Batik Bali, and Kebaya Bali like I do, should go outside the pasar Badung complex a bit and go across the street, there're bunch of fabric market with unique and great motives of batik and kebaya, occupied mostly by Indian-ethnics merchant. Very friendly face and greetings, but worst to have price-bargain with.
Not very safe for children since a lot of people around the market, and also the market took place just next to the main road with worse traffic caused by minimum parking space occupied by market buyers such as I did.
Bathrooms are hell!

I've never been to such a dirty place. There were rats everywhere and the whole building smelled like dead animals. I walked past a stall with plastic sheeting over it, when I walked here the smell of dead animals only got worse. It is certain that there were a number of dead animals. People were also not friendly, which you normally expect in Bali. All in all, highly recommended!

Safety is largely not an issue at these night markets, as they are generally located in well-lit areas, bustling with local crowds. However, like in any tourist destination, it's always wise to stay vigilant. I love going to markets, but this was an unpleasant place. It is a Point of Sale located in a former parking garage. Upon arrival we were harassed by 2 women who kept following us all the time. Indicated that we were not served by this, but that fell on deaf ears. So eventually I just left,

Its not just the market its the streets around it that are worth a look.

If you are staying in one of the tourist enclaves on the coast a visit to Pasar Badung is quite spectacular because of the contrast. The market building is closed for renovation and as a result stalls and vendors are selling their goods in narrow alleys and backstreets on the westside of the nearby river. An enormous offer of different kinds of fish and meats, vegetables and fruits, spices and herbs. You see vendors hacking chickens into pieces, scooping prawns into plastic bags, women haggling over prices with villagers from nearby Denpasar, it really is an overwhelming sight. Wear good shoes or boots as the potholed pathways are rather muddy and slippery.
Cycled from Sanur, but access by motorbike or car is an option as well. Even parking a bicycle can be problematic due to the lack of space, also because of the nearby temples. Park at some distance away and walk there.

This market is very much catered to locals rather than tourists. Most of the stalls we saw were mainly food and some flowers. It was interesting to go through the market, but slightly overwhelming when you don't know Bahasa or Balinese. Most tourists would probably be more interested in Jalan Sulawesi (which is next door) where you can buy very good quality fabrics and temple clothes.

The facilities here are really excellent but the prices are super expensive. Definitely worth a 30 minutes ride from Seminyak . Lazing in the pool watching the surf is great. Didn’t do it personally but they have spotlights to enable night surfing
