visited here many years ago.heard that it has a renovation.so this year, when i had my Nov-Dec trip to Bali,on the last day,i came here with my driver.after renovation, now all stalls moved to the new building.i think the old market more charming,i remember it is open air,.now there are many levels in the building, they even have a lift! too modern. there are frutis, veggies, clothes, snacks, traditional stuffs on sale here.i bought some snacks, like peanuts, pie susu, bali dessert.i bargained with the seller, and got a rather good price.if you love to see everyday life of local people, pasar badung still worth a visit.

Modern marketplace in Denpasar. Here it also has a river called "Tukad Korea" which is very nice. Very suitable to be a playground

Came here as part of a private tour - and a bit surprised to see we were not the only tourists there. The old market building was burnt down so this new one is only a year or two old, which meant the market is rather modern and clean, and organized based on the stuff they sell by floors. Of particular interest is the floor devoted to flowers and produce for their daily offerings. We had the benefit of a tutor who provided useful information about the market and the stuff on sale, and this market is worth a quick look if you are in the area

The facilities here are really excellent but the prices are super expensive. Definitely worth a 30 minutes ride from Seminyak . Lazing in the pool watching the surf is great. Didn’t do it personally but they have spotlights to enable night surfing

The newly built traditional produce market is a must see, very clean and well laid out, the different levels are all set in a way that all similar vendors are together, eg meat, chicken, fruit, veggies also including clothes, bags and shoes on the upper levels.

The renovated traditional market of Gaja mada street or the pasar badung has a lot of vegetables, groceries, food and many other local items. The prices are competitive. The shopkeepers were really excited to see foreigners and initiated dialogues with me. However, being with a local helped me. The market is open round the clock and one of the best shopping centres. It has escalators too.

Pasar Badung has just been reopened with a brand new building, after approximately three years of rebuilding since the original building was destroyed by a fire in early 2016 and eventually demolished. We went here just a day after it was opened to the public (late February 2019) just to experience the new building. The new modern building is now taller, and clean. We explored around from bottom to top, so basically the vegetables and meat stalls are on the ground and first floor. Most hotel/restaurant chefs also shop for their ingredients here. There are several shop lots/kiosks on the top floor selling clotches and other goods. Furthermore, it has two basement levels for parking, as well as 6 elevators and 12 escalators. Overall this is an awesome market. Definitely much better than the old one.

Note: Be careful when buying tofu in here. We fried and ate them at home and after that we felt so sleepy all the sudden. It's like something was added in the tofu.

If you are staying in one of the tourist enclaves on the coast a visit to Pasar Badung is quite spectacular because of the contrast. The market building is closed for renovation and as a result stalls and vendors are selling their goods in narrow alleys and backstreets on the westside of the nearby river. An enormous offer of different kinds of fish and meats, vegetables and fruits, spices and herbs. You see vendors hacking chickens into pieces, scooping prawns into plastic bags, women haggling over prices with villagers from nearby Denpasar, it really is an overwhelming sight. Wear good shoes or boots as the potholed pathways are rather muddy and slippery.

Cycled from Sanur, but access by motorbike or car is an option as well. Even parking a bicycle can be problematic due to the lack of space, also because of the nearby temples. Park at some distance away and walk there.

The original market building is under renovation, so most of the market is outside now. We went in the evening, when the fresh market was out, sprawling along the riverside. We had to wriggle our way through the chaos, bought some fresh fruits, had a meal in a small halal restaurant and totally loved it.
