Actually this trip was an amazing one where I found signature of industrialisation & virgin nature together ... We started from Kolkata through Ispat exp. and arrived in Manoharpur. Our accommodation was booked in SANTOOR GUEST HOUSE which is itself a beauty. Mrs.Manjusha Ganguly the owner of this property proves the line "ATITHI DEVO BHAVO". Manoharpur is itself a beauty with KOEL & KOENA river in backdrop of Saranda range & chotonagpur plateau. We headed towards Sameej Ashram (25 k.m)from Manoharpur where kolel & karo join.Beautiful river bed walking will fulfill your desire where red coloured Karo diminishing her existence into Green coloured Koel.
Next day we proceed for Pundul falls... Bolani mine falls... Kiriburu & Meghatuburu...
Going to those falls after a short trekking was unbelievably good and thrilling one. we had a guide given to us by Mrs. Ganguly (2 Scorpio was hired for rs. 2500/- each) was impressive one.. we have our lunch after bathing in falls inside jungle.
Then we proceed for SAIL CITY KIRIBURU.. Have a magnificent view of iron ore mines and surrounding ranges.

Our next destination was MEGHATUBURU..
I think this is the 2 nd best sunset point after Netarhat.. from here you can have a glimpse of Saranda range (700 hills). Really magnificent sunset.
Another whole day excursion was to THALKOBAD.. Once a naxalite zone.. waiting for tourist with huge treasures of wilderness.. You will have glimpses of Bagh Guha.. and.. natural duldalli.
One thing to remember that never miss the beauty of dungri in Manoharpur where fascinating sunset will give pleasure to real nature lover.. and lastly the conjunction of KOEL & KOENA..

Was there for work - stayed at the Meghalaya Guest House of SAIL. This can only be booked by officers of the Steel Authority and is not open to general public.

The viewpoint is located just next to the guest house and offers a great view of the surrounding hills. Both sunrise and sunset are worth watching from here.

Meghatuburu is like a mini Cherrapunji - it rains out here almost every other day. Walking through the clouds is a wonderful experience.

Do keep in mind that the town has no hotels. Also, shops are far and few - so do stock up on all necessities should you wish to visit the place. For tourists, this should ideally be a day trip.

If you are going to this area for some work, you can try to explore saranda forest and othar nearby waterfalls. But this is not worth a property family trip. Reaching each spot requires long drives. Road conditions are also poor. There is no public washroom anywhere other than saranda forest guest house. Every spot is ful of food wastes, chocolate wrapers and other discurded things. Finally, after such a physically tiring trip, there is zero take back.
