Great to see the fish and corals, but really do need to be tighter on the silly fools whom find it quite OK to leap off and somersault into the areas were people are snorkelling. I was very annoyed seeing the lifeguards being thrown into the water by others whom are on the pontoons and it was vey busy at the time. The area is not massive and when people are snorkelling and some diving down to get closer was very dangerous. This for me was very off putting and not what you would expect.
Respect the Red Sea life and others please.

They take our picture even if we refuse. Then we ask you 50 euros for less than 10 photos and a video. When we say it's too expensive we lower the price to 25 euros. Believing to get a deal, we accept. The person informs us that the photos will be delivered to our hotel at 10:00 p.m. the same day. We are at the appointment but the delivery man is 20 minutes late. We ask for our photos but we are told that they are only sent by whatsapp and not on paper. Thanks scam. Super disappointed 😞 and very angry 😠

Nice place to spend a day on a beautiful equipped beach but above all with a coral reef easily approached after a few meters from the shore, excellent for snorkelling lovers. Even divers will find ce tra divine for dives and courses. In addition to a few shops, there is the possibility of renting snorkeling equipment and if you want to have lunch don't hesitate to go to sunshine beach where you will have a wonderful lunch, with Italian dishes and fresh fish at reasonable prices. It's worth the day and above all worth the visit

It's unforgettable place. The beauty of the underwater world is breath taking. I strongly recommend to go there for snorkeling or free diving. Just make sure you have a good company to spend the time there with fun :)

We did a few excursions with a group and visited this beach. The water is very clear but be aware of the sharks!!!! Only joking, this place is clean and safe and you can really enjoy the calm waters. We had a panini for lunch and there are local toilets so tourist can enjoy outside. The people locals are quite hard to interact with as they dont speak english well, but you wont struggle. Make sure when leaving the beach you dust off, they fine you for making mess on the public roads

Lovely and beautiful relaxing place. I have to thank all the guys at the reception as I had a problem with my boarding pass and they did their best to fix my problem. I thank Mohamed, Ahmed, Rami with lots of love. Very clean structure, the food is very good and everyone is very kind to us tourists, the only problem is if we really want to find it and they don't speak Italian but we managed to start and solve the problem with the translator, for the rest I recommend it, it's a fantastic structure

Perhaps the wrong period for the climate. Furthermore, being out of season, excursions are left to be desired. The coral reef is dying so not as many colorful corals as we thought, but the little fish are very beautiful. Very beautiful old Sharm.

We have just returned (25th April, 2011) from Shark's Bay in Sharm. I have found the trip advisor info very useful in planning the trip so I thought I will contribute.
With teenagers and a young child it was an ideal place to meet everyone's needs from small pleasures at the pool and the beach to snorkelling, quadbiking, camel-riding, motor boat trip.
The Egyptians love children and are generally very kind people even if they try to get as much money out of you as possible. We found shopping not a very pleasant experince but you do not go there for shopping. Walking away worked fine, it seemed that even at the so called "Old Market" the traders tried not to be too pushy as they are also aware that it turns English shoppers off.
The old market is a charmless place, not old at all and there was nothing we wanted to buy . There was some nice jewellery but a lot of the things are just cheap tat. The place has a certain athmosphere as the locals shop there too. Egyptians like the English and consider them softies when it comes to money, Sharm is not Egypt, it is an unlikely, fake place, but you go there for the diving, snorkelling and the sun. The regular calls for prayer are probably the only authentic thing you will come accross. We did a coach daytrip to Cairo which was a memorable experience. 7 hrs overnight allowed the children to get some sleep and enjoy the day at the Egyptiam museum, Giza, on the Nile. We organised it through a small operator from the beach, £45.00/person. There are a number of road checks, especially around Suez, rather mad driving (against on-coming lorries in some places) but suprisingly we didn't see any accidents. The coach turned out to be a minibus (it was not sold as such) this upset a lot of people but it just confirmed that even if you check all the details you may not get what you have expected especially if you book with the locals. We still had a good day as the drivers and the guide were very helpful, friendly, authentic and I definitely felt I had more of an Egyptian experience driving through the desert and later Cairo with them.
We self-caterd in Shark's Bay, rather difficult as most places are full or half board and Sharm is not equipped for self-catering. We had to get a taxi to get bread, but overall managed with 2 bigger shopping trips at Carrefour in Naama Bay. (Very small, perfectly adequate supermarket, not the hypermarket we associate Carrefour with). It did not sell wine though, only one type of beer. Alcohol in general is available in restaurants but the choice is very limited.
Our quadbiking experience was completely unsafe by English standards, no helmet, 12 yr old driving, 5 year old in the front of dad, but the guide was looking back constantly , not pushing the speed too much, I thought it was perfectly ok. We all had life-jackets on the motorboat, and yes, both dad and all the kids had a go at driving. Safety in general has a lower priority even in Sharm, which if you are sensible enhances the experience. Snorkelling in Sharks Bay is superb, right off the jetty, no need to go anywhere else. There are other great things to do such us hiking up to the top of Mount Sinai, but these involve 2-3 hrs of trekking, not suitable for young children. Day trips to Petra or Jerusalem are also possible, Sharm is a relatively cheap base but the distance is considerable (8 hrs to Jerusalem).

It's a coral reef, so you walk the floaters to the deep water.

Hi my friends and I are visiting Sharm in October - we have been several times before but have never visited Sharks Bay beach. We are staying at the Oriental but to see the fish at the oriental it's a long walk down the jetty - and we are all 'mature' ladies! Can you walk into the sea at Sharks Bay beach and see the fish? Does the beach have easy access as one of our ladies does have difficulty walking? We are thinking of taking a taxi from the hotel and spending the day on Sharks Bay beach. Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks Jenny
