No question, Abu Simbel deserves a five star rating in its own right. The magnitude of the sculptures dwarfs those found in other locations. The insides of the temples are well-preserved and interesting. It is scenically located on the shores of Lake Nasser. Although you...More

Definitely try to include Abu Simbel as part of your trip to Egypt. The temples are unique and stunning, and the setting is interesting right by Lake Nasser (the temples were actually moved to avoid being flooded). Air Egypt arranges the flights and buses to...More

The world famous temple of Abu Simbel will not disappoint. The bonus and surprise to many is the adjacent temple to his beloved wife Nerfertari. Both temples were moved to escape the rising flood cause by the Aswan High Dam. One of the most interesting...More

Although this was one of the temples we saw on the end of the trip, after we saw many others, it still amazed us. It is one of the greatest, built for King Ramses II. Also the fact that it has been moved entirely from...More

The site is close to the Sudanese border so expect security to be prevalent, also this far south by midday it is seriously hot! We left Aswan early and arrived at the complex about 09.00, two plus hours on site and away before it got...More

I doubt if it is safe to travel with the locals in a overcrowded bus. The distance between Aswan and Abu Simbel is almost 300 km and the road is very near Libya Border. I have seen a few local buses on the road. However, my... More

Airport is only short distance away from the Temple Complex. Just take a taxi and go on your own. Guides are not allowed INSIDE the temples, so they will just tell you the history outside and send you on your own. I... More
