If you google ‘Island of the Sun’ you will find mesmerising photos of a stunning island dotted with the most amazing, must see, ruins.... Reality... the Island is currently split in two with the north being inaccessible due to a major conflict which has been...More

We rode the ferry over and have a few hours on the island, but there is not a whole lot to see. I had read so many reviews that this was a wonderful place to be and that we needed to stay on the island,...More

Isla del Sol is just beautiful, and very well prepared for tourists. There are hostels, restaurants, and small shops everywhere you go as you ascend the Inka path. Great place for scenic walks, and merits a night or two (especially if you feel you've inhalated...More

I don’t no why previous reviews have rated this island/activity so highly. It’s a pretty island but the tour companies that operate here are rubbish and ruin it. We did the Isla Del Sol and Isla de la Luna islands tour and it was probably...More

An hour by boat from Copacabana, but worth the trip. The fountain of the Incas is a climb up a stone staircase bordered By swiftly running water and blooming flowers. Continuing up, you come to a small church and the Yumani town. We then went...More

We read reviews and were unsure whether to visit Isla del Sol due to the conflict still on going between the north and south. You can only visit the south, but we’re so glad we did. Gorgeous island to slow down for a few days....More

Nice 2 hour hike on Isla Del Sol. There is a set route that the tour companies use with drop off at one end and pickup at another. The views are beautiful, if you can avoid the electrical cables stretched to the mainland. How sad!...More

Going to Isla del Sol requires you take a ferry from Copacabana thus ensuring you get time on Lake Titicaca and Isla del Sol. Access to the island is currently (May 2018) restricted to the southern district due to local conflicts. A hike of ~1h...More

You can’t get to the North of the island at all, not by walking or boat. The boats from Copacabana only go to Yumani. This has been the case since the conflict started, its such a shame.
