This icy high-altitude lake is the legendary birthplace of the Inca civilization, and is also believed to hold precious Inca treasure. When Jacques Cousteau explored the lake for treasure, he discovered instead a large, colorful deep-water frog.

We came to Lake Titicaca on a day trip from La Paz with Bolivia Hop. We rode a ferry on the lake to Isla del Sol. The lake is calm and the color is really pretty. Also, the locals seem to take care of the...More

Without being a lecturer, my guide was tremendously informative and affable, teaching not only the significance of this lake and the city at its edge, but on local customs, foods (Dont miss a snack of ispi con papas y aji at the ferry!) and people....More

If you go to Bolivia or Peru this beautiful lake should be on your agenda. Well worth the trouble to get here.

This is a place you should definitely visit if you’re in Bolivia, it is so huge and amazing and the Islands on it are so mysterious and full of beautiful things to see and do. I would definitely come back!

In my Bolivia Peru trip this was one of the dissapointing things. The lake is quite nice, but it's too touristy. The boat tours were so scripted. Especially I found out about this, when the second day to visit a further island I again passed...More

Beautiful landscapes, ancient archaeological sites and open water. From Puno in Peru to Copacobana in Bolivia, the variety of natural and cultural attractions were impressive. Swimming in the Lake was not only possible, but quite pleasant too.

Second, after Cusco, my favourite place in Peru. It was great to take a boat tour to the Uros floating islands. Very educative. Amazing views

We set out for a cruise from Copacabana which included Sun Island. Totally different from the Puno side with snow capped peaks as we crossed the lake.
