If you want to understand the Bahraini culture and tradition, you shall visit this place.
our guide was born in same city and tild us the stroy of each corner and each shop.
what we loved most about the souk, that you can see local Bahraini are shopping .
Plenty of traditional restaurants and cafes around which we spent our time there.

You do feel you are in Arabia while in this souq. It does not matter if you buy something or not - but of course there are nice and exotic things to buy - starting from local gold and coffee.
I was wondering around for 2 evenings and enjoyed it a lot.

Wonderful traditional Souq/Market. Many shops such as clothing, shoes, bags, Bahraini desserts, exchanges, banks, traditional food market, Gold Market and so many alternatives. Inside the Gold Market a nice Cafe called Zaafran which serving a great Bahraini traditional dishes and Arabic Coffee. Also, you need to explore more to find Sh. Ebrahim Cultural Center, Iqra Kids Library, Alzayed the Journalist House, Bin Fares traditional Musical House and many more. Muharraq is the best City in Bahrain. Great people and so welcoming and so freindly. Do NOT miss the great chance to be a great explorer!!

Souq Al-Muharraq is one of my favorite places in Bahrain. It is on the Pearling pathway (Pearl Route) so you can visit many historical buildings around the souq. The people at the souq are very friendly and welcoming. It is also the best place to buy souvenirs. Make sure to try some local sweets “Halwa”. Stop by Saffron café at Souq AlQaisareya for some Arabic coffee and local snacks.

This market is the oldest market in Bahrain. It has a very old market within it called alQaysaria Souq which is very very old souq. Also Muharraq Souq has a gold souq in it which has a wide range of varities of gold'pearls sets. it has also the Most Famous Sweets (Bahrain Halawa) shops aroun. You can walk and injoy the rotation. If you are planning to visit Muharraq Souq, be advised that the historic souq has been demolished as from March 25th 2017. It is under reconstruction, but sadly will never be the same again. 🙁

This souq is ideal if you want sweets and abayas. Other than that, there’s not much to see. If you do venture to the Muharraq area, I would recommend visiting the Old/Traditional Houses, as it will give you more to see and do.
