If you love history and finding out how people lived in the past then this is a must see for you. The beautiful house is a living example of the architecture in years gone when the current amenities did not exist (e.g running water, air cons etc).
I loved the layout of the courts, wells, rooms, windows etc My favourite was the cooling tower in one of the main rooms. Best to go when it is cooler (evening time). And for BHD1 it was a great experience

We enjoyed the Sheikh’s house. 1BD ticket price, hopefully being put toward restoration. Really quite interesting to see the construction and innovative use of wind tunnel “air conditioning”.

The doors and carvings/lattice work were very interesting.
The former grand mosque is right next door as well as other visitor sites.

Parking was a little tough, glad it was a week day, not weekend or holiday.

A well thought out concept and excellent implementation. With renovated traditional houses, there is a cafe's and library too. You can spend time walking through the aisles and popping in and out of the houses. Take a break and walk again to get the pulse of Bahrain living. This is he real pearl of Bahrain.

Part of the pearling trail, Bahrain's second UNESCO World Heritage site, this restored residence of the Gulf's longest reigning monarch is worthy of a 20-minute visit. Little information is provided in its bare rooms: no description, no brochure, no nothing. Most foreigners will leave without detailed understanding of its history (the oldest house in Bahrain?) but, considering that entry fee is only 100 fils, stopping by for its picturesque courtyards topped by a wind tower and intricate patterns of its wooden doors is as cultural as it can get in Bore-rain.

King's old house. Very nice venue to see, placed in the centre. There is a map with explanation for each of the rooms in the house. Entrance fee is 0.5 BD.

Great for expats in the region looking to check out something new and different than the normal cultural and shopping venues. It's inexpensive, not crowded, and if you're adventurous, a good place to stroll the neighborhood. We found an art museum and admired the carvings on the many traditional Bahraini doors in a nearby walking tour.

A beautifully preserved 219 years old arabic house/palace that was used by the ruler of Bahrain Shaikh Essa bin Ali Alkhalifa from 1869 to 1932, such a beautiful old arabic house that we are really lucky to have it still standing in Bahrain, it has 3 main sections for the ruler and his family, the guests and the servants, with 3 water wells and lots of rooms, the old traditional Bahraini architecture is amazing and it is interesting for the whole family to look at, it is a must see for all the tourists and one of the top attractions in Bahrain.

We booked an excursion with our cruise ship operator, which included a visit to this old historical home. It is in the old capital and from the top you can see the modern city of Manama. Very well preserved and interesting information given by our guide but it is basically bare walls so not a lot to see. Nothing much more to say as not probably interesting to most people I’m afraid. But historical site preserved against a modern skyline nearby.
