When I saw this moai outside the Museo Fonck I thought it was a replica. Then I looked it up and it is a real moai brought to Viña from Easter Island decades ago. It's not allowed now, of course. Come see it if you...More

Odd juxtaposition of the statue w/ the museum... Kind of interesting to see the moai, but sadly out of context it loses much of it's cultural heritage.

Moai or statue which is the replica of the one found on Easter Island. It was actually removed from it's original place in Easter Island and brought here. The statue is situated right outside Fonck museum.

This statue or Moai is probably the closest that I will get to Easter Island history or archeology. It stands in solitary splendour adjacent the entrance to the Fonck Museum and is reputedly one of 79 complete Moai removed from their original sites on the...More

You don't have to go all the way to Easter Island since they brought one of the moai here to the museum. Easter Island is in Valparaiso's province, the reason for the exhibit.

This is a genuine Moai statue! It saved a 6 hour flight to Easter Island. If you are in Santiago or Vina Del Mar, you should definitely stop by to admire it.

Hello, Sorry I have not been to Easter island. What I read about them was its a good 4-5 hours flight with decent pricing and since it was 4 of us, it would have been decent budget hit just to see one thing. Hotels there... More
