This museum uses life-size dioramas to depict everyday Dubai life in the days before the discovery of oil. Galleries recreate scenes from the Creek, traditional Arab houses, mosques, the souk, date farms and desert and marine life.

Went to Dubai Museum along with kids with great anticipation and excitement to see the historical and antique artefacts, however, most of the artefacts were models.
The ticket price is awesomely cheap and provides the opportunity to spent few hours before heading to the souks.

I was in a group of five men, all from the USA, who just walked around and explored the exhibits in the Museum. It took us about an hour to cover all the floors and display rooms. All the exhibits are very clearly labelled and the explanations easy to read and understand. We did not ask for any guide but I saw tour groups who might not be fluent in English (Arabic or eastern European) accompanied by tour guides/chaperones. All the others in my team (who were of different age groups) walked around on our own and did not feel lost at all without a guide or interpreter. We never asked about the availability of a guide.
