- dese2Auburn, New York3,635 contributionsSo wonderfulOur ship docked just beyond this art installation. I didn't understand the whole display until our guide explained it. What a wonderful art installation to honor our place in the solar system and the ingenuity of the artists - and the people of Zadar for stepping up to have the installation. Unfortunately, we were not there in the evening to see the light show but videos are online, and I did get to see the whole display. A free work of art for everyone to appreciate.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 November 2023
- ToriDenver, Colorado67 contributionsMust see at sunsetGreeting to the sun monument is a must visit at sunset when it comes to life! Very beautiful and interesting to see the creativity behind it by Croatian architect Nikola Bašić. It consists of three hundred, multi-layered glass plates placed on the same level as the stone-paved waterfront. It consists of a 22-meter diameter circle, with photovoltaic solar modules and symbolizes communication with nature and light. It gets a bit crowded when the sun goes down, but worth it to be there and enjoy the experience.Visited May 2023Travelled soloWritten 20 February 2024
- Shraddha24Trier, Germany89 contributionsFamilies with small children must go !Children are excited so recommend for families. The darker the sky better the light you get to experience. We went twice once at the sun set and once around 9 30 pm when it was really dark. It's fun for children and definitely enjoyable sight at any time due sea and seaorgan next to it.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 August 2024
- Philippa J20 contributionsAmazingThis is such a lovely idea and very unique. I loved the different colours and patterns. I came with my partner after food and it was busy with all ages of people. It was lovely to hear the sea organ too. We did go as it was just starting to get dark but it wasn't half as impressive as when it was fully dark. Highly recommend and for all ages.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 September 2024
- Radu PătruBucharest, Romania197 contributionsA magical experience in Zadar! When I searched what I can see in Zadar before arriving there, I saw that this place has the most beautiful sunsets in the world. I was a little reluctant, but the experience itself is extraordinary. The sunset is spectacular, don't miss the Dalmatian coast bathed in the twilight light (on your right as you look at the sun), then look to the left to see the mountains bathed in the reddish light of the sunset. To these is added the luminous dial on the sidewalk that will indicate the stages of the sun's journey to the sunset. An unmissable goal in Zadar!Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten 18 September 2024
- D2004Ireland418 contributionsLight show near the sea organLocated near thd Sea Organ this light show can be walked on so you dont get to see it if there are lots of people about. The darker the sky better the light you get to experience. It's fun to see as if you arrived about sunset you also can watch the sunset.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2024
- RBonTheLakeYork, South Carolina660 contributionsCool experience along with the Sea OrganThe LED lights turn on after sunset and it’s cool to watch. It’s worth staying a bit after sunset to see it in the dark. This is located right by the sea organ. We had a beautiful sunset there also. Definitely worth going to since it is a unique experience.Visited September 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 25 September 2024

Most amazing sunset ever. The light presentation on floor depicts solar system with the sun as the main attraction. Huge light panel on the floor. It's beautiful. Definitely something to check out while in Zadar

Designed and installed by Nikola Bašić in 2008, it complements the nearby sea organ. It is best viewed at night, after the crowds watching the sunset have dissipated.
The 300 multi-layer solar panels conserve sunlight during the day and when the sun sets, they generate a colourful light show beneath your feet. Illuminating an area that’d otherwise be darkened by the night sky, it’s hugely popular with tourists. Smaller circles representing the planets link the structure to the Sea Organ.

Right next to the Sea Organ, this place is like a mob disco waiting to happen! Just missing the 70s music! Poor layout of the downtown overall in terms of providing facilities. It's almost like they are driving you into the bars and restaurants if you need to use the bathroom. The nearby WC Closes at 2100, so anyone needing to use the toilet after sunset is out of luck.

Flashing lights based the power of the sun is an unusual experience. Nevertheless that's what you can experience in the harbor of Zadar. As people first gather to watch the sun go down - soon they will turn towards the great solar panels which bring patterns of flashing lights, just minutes after sunset.
During the high season there might be too many people in order to get the expected effect. Though is was still worth the time waiting.

The atmosphere down here made the entire trip exploring Croatia. It’s nothing to see in the day but watch the sunset by the sea organ then soak up the music as children and adults dance amongst the sparkling lights with the pinks of the skies behind. If anyone can tell me the name or social media for the saxophonist, I’d really appreciate it because he’s amazing!

Installed in 2008 on the Riva next to the Sea Organ and designed by local architect Nikola Bašić, the Greeting to the Sun features 22 metre circle panels set in a large circle within the stone paving. During the day, light-sensitive solar panels below the glass plates absorb energy from the sun and releases it in the form of dancing light beams at night once the sunsets.
Free and sunset included.

I visited here whilst I was in Zadar as it's the perfect place to catch the Sunset. Please arrive early as so many people do the same.
This is a Solar light display and I understand it creates enough power to light up the promenade or lots of it. Great fun for family and every one. Kids love it and it gets busy as you can imagine. Really worth seeing the unique display with its changing colours and display

We visited this installation along with the adjacent Sea Organ. We waited until it got dark so that we could see the full effect of the solar panels but were a little disappointed and could have done with an interpretation board as we felt we were missing something. Should we stay until it is pitch dark? Do the lights change any more? We weren't sure when to leave. We needed more information.

Immediately after listening to the sea organ, 1 minute away we "greeted the sun" as it set! A show! There were a lot of people... after half an hour the "circle" began to colour. First blue, then green....and then many colours! Beautiful!

This is located right near the Sea organ, not much to see during the day.
This is spot to come just as the sun sets. So beautiful and then wait till it’s really dark to see the magic of all the lights.

Hello, we are two families (4 adults and four children from 4 to 8 years old). It says that the tour is for 7 people plus captain only. Is there any possibility that we can book this tour for our two families? Many regards, Natalie Schreiber

How long will the fence around it stay in place? I really hope it isn’t permanent... I really like sitting or standing on it at night when the lights are active. CURSE THE PERSON WHO DAMAGED THIS BEAUTIFUL INSTALLATION!

Whereabouts in Zadar is the light show?
Written 10 June 2019
It’s next to the sea organ just past the harbour. It’s a big blue circle but you can only see the lights once the sun goes down. The sunset is amazing so worth getting down there to see the sunset and watch the lights afterwards.

I believe the display is as long as it is dark, ie sunset to sunrise
