Cool entry
Oct 2020
What a way to enter a city. Historic, cool, and in a beaut little place by a quaint harbor. There's street parking outside the square and, in the low season, you shouldn't have any trouble parking right near the gates.

Off The Beaten Path
Dec 2019
The gates are off the beaten path and next to a quiet, pretty harbor. The decorations on the gate are quite interesting. Looking down on the gates and harbor is a pretty view.

An interesting area
Jan 2020 • Solo
The Land Gate is a fine piece of photogenic Venetian architecture. There is a good view of the gate from the adjacent park.

Behind the gate there are interesting parallel sections of walls from (restored) Roman, Late Antiquity, Medieval (including the Captain's Tower), and Renaissance eras.

4 day visit
Sep 2019 • Couples
The Old Town is the most popular best accessed over the pedestrian bridge which brigs you into the middle of the town.
Lots of people about walking around the countless shops, bistro's and restaurants.gentle stroll all areas are easily covered. It is a tourist town with lots to see and the coast is easily accessed in minutes. 4 days was enough a sit is quite small and once you have seen everything, job done. It is worth a visit but we would not return again.

Imposing & historically crucial for defense of Zadar
Sep 2019
Within the walls is a city enclave of quite some size & it now is one of the main gates into the Old City.
For tourists this is really THE ONLY part of Zadar that rates.
We stayed near Kovolare Beach so our walks took us past this gate each time.
Each & every time we marveled at the antiquity & the resilience of ancient building materials & methods.

Site of historical importance
Nov 2019 • Couples
One can't overstate it's importance as these structures were important during ancient times, we should consider ourselves lucky to be able to still see these sites as they are now. Fantastic place to appreciate the architecture and take some memorable shots, very highly recommended!

Very Majestic
Oct 2019
Best to visit after noon when the sun shines on the gate. The gate is massive and you can see the symbol of the Venetians, the flying lion that was supposed to protect the gate, and below that St Chrysogaunus, one of the five saints of Zadar, on a horse - which is the symbol of Zadar. This positioning of the Venetian symbol above that of the saint was to proclaim the superiority of the Venetians and their dominance over the local Zadar populace.
