Roman central square
Aug 2021
Central square of Diocletian's Palace, the buildings are wonderfully preserved. It's "lived in" though, full of bars, ice-cream parlours, etc. Although a gorgeous place, watch out that it gets jam packed in summer, if you can visit early in the morning before the hordes arrive.

Expected more to see
Aug 2021
Not only was it just too crowded I did find many helpful signs, you would have to book a guide, otherwise you will not understand what you see. Not much left anyway. Lots of construction currently on top.

You can feel the history as you walk inside the palace walls, especially in this square. hard to imagine this place is that old.

Outdoor Bar with Live Music
Jun 2021
A great place to hang out in the evening. Live music most nights. Sit on a red pillow and the Luxor bar will serve you drinks. Or grab a fantastic gelato just around the corner and just enjoy the music and people watching. This can be quite the scene at night. To say nothing of the fact that you are in an ancient Roman palace !

Beautifully preserved Roman ruins
Jun 2021
Diocletian's palace is the center of Split and a must visit for any tourist passing by or staying in this magnificent city. The palace began construction and expansion in the fourth century, but the ruins are so intact that with a little imagination you can image life here in the old days by walking through the streets of the palace and its surrounding areas. The modern cafes and restaurants are incorporated into the ancient walls which is a cool concept on its own. Don’t forget to check out the ancient Sphinx which was already 2000 years old when the Romans brought it here.

One of the Coolest Experiences Ever
Jun 2021
This was one of my favorite things I've ever experienced. The sheer amount of history that has happened in the Peristyle is incredible. What's left of the palace has been preserved so well it is incredible, This is an absolute must if in Split!

Stunning

Stunning architecture. Always busy but if you catch a quiet moment, take a seat and enjoy the atmosphere and appreciate the history. Lovely later in the day under the sunlight.

Very Impressive!

Definitely our favorite part of Split, as the architectural design is flawless! There is so much history there, especially Roman Empire history, as the buildings there with the columns transported us back in time, and felt like we were in Rome!

Beautiful and interesting
Oct 2020
Pretty much a must-see if you're in Split, at least for the first time, though it's definitely enjoyable to visit more than once. It can be quite crowded in the summer, so try to go in the off season if possible. Also, it's worth it to check out the rest of Diocletian's Palace as well, especially the bell tower (as in, walking up it--if you're able).

Great holiday spot
Jul 2020 • Family
Loved it! There were tour operators dressed in Roman costumes. Just too hot and bothered at the time of our visit and would go there at a different season to explore and appreciate the history.
