It's a nice open square where to take a walk. At night, in particular at weekends, there are young prostitutes hanging around. You recognise them because they are usually in groups of two. They want money for sex or free drinks and food.
The area around the Opera House is quite nice. Going into the Opera House is expensive....200 uah for locals/ Russian speakers and 400 uah for English! No thank you!!
Take a seat outside and enjoy the comings and goings of people moving through the square.
The Odessa opera house is mixture of diffrentvstyles but who cares, it is just beautiful! It looks a bit diffrernt from different sides. I was also told they the house is protected from pidgeons (poo) by predator birds who live on the roof, fascinating!
