It’s very typical, and as others have stated a lot of the stuff is pretty cheap (as in poor quality). However, the good thing about Sunday is that vendors are outside on the street and it’s easy to see what’s available.

Across a path from the Artisan market you will find the local market. Selling everything from clothes to spices, fruit, veg, meat and household items. Even though we didn't buy anything it was fun to wonder through the narrow alleys and browse at the produce on...More

I was looking for a soft tote bag, with a zipper, to bring back all of the souvenirs I bought, and have it look like my "hand-bag", which I would also stuff inside. My friend, Madeline, and I went from market to market, looking there...More

We stopped here to do the majority of our shopping. I was able to haggle pretty well, and get a really nice blanket, three t-shirts, 3 magnets, and a change purse for under $400 Q's.

Ugh. If you're looking for souvenirs at a cheap price, this is a great place. You'll find cheap hammocks, cheap bad tee shirts, cheap ties, machine produced textiles. It's quite big and much less crowded than other places. But, folks, do yourself a favor. If...More

Huge market, with stalls for just about everything. Of course, area farmers bringing produce to sell, food vendors, merchandise of all sorts. Artisan market is adjacent. Also adjacent is the local "Chicken Bus" terminal - a must see!

We visited the Mercado during a walking tour of the city. We could only cover a small part since it is so large. They sell just about everything.

Lots of shops inside (over 100) with all of the typical (and not so typical) Mayan and Guatemalan goods. We got a nice woven hammock here for around $28US. The shop owners are helpful, not too pushy and some speak good English. It seemed like...More

This is a lesser known artisan market in Antigua, with many of the typical items and some unique finds as well. We've haggled some great prices here for excellent quality textiles. You won't find as many huipils in this market, but textiles for the home...More
