Franciscans established a church here in the 16th century, It was expanded later and there was some damage from earthquakes. I attended mass here and can recommend that for fellow believers, as it was beautiful. Of course the church contains some good original art and...More

Guatemaltecas are religious people. I attended mass in this church on a Sunday and it was a wonderful experience. There was a choir and special musical instruments I had never seen before. It was a great experience and it's next to Hermano Pedro's church. This...More

If you enjoy history step into the church to see the stations of the cross, paintings, decor and ambiance. Next to the church are the ruins that date back to the conquistadors. Bring your camera.

I always enjoy visiting this church, for all of its beauty: the architecture, the chance to witness authentic religious devotion, an opportunity to encounter Antigua's history and culture, a beautiful garden and a small market with articles you may not find anywhere else.

I was here 45 years ago and took many photos of this church. It hasn't changed, but the streets improved with beautiful cobble stones. Nice place to visit. Very clean.

I believe La Merced and the Cathedral are more popular, perhaps due to location, but Church of San Francisco is worth a visit. The ruins are nice as is the sacred chapel next door. Also, there is a market. For more info and pics visit...More

A bit off the main trail of Antigua but still close the main square. Impressive church, ruins of monastery for which you have to pay entrance. Lovely garden. On holy week procession there was a lot of food stalls and small market too. For lunch...More
