The Kale is a wonderful place to sit and relax once you've stood and looked out over Skopje and the surrounding mountains. Be aware it's a bit of a climb to get up there and inside, but it is well worth it!
Great views. Up hill walk. They started to build the area but then stopped. Too bad because it’s has a lot of potential. However it is free. And they have free cold water at the entrance worth the walk

There's really nothing much to see of the fortress other than to walk the ramparts for the view out over the city. It's an interest walk up to the fortress through the Carsija neighborhood and there's no entrance fee so why not visit?
It's a fair hike up but worth it for the views across the city in all directions. There was not much going on otherwise but there were venues that appear to function in the peak season. I didn't go up later in the evening but...More
