We tried to go inside but due to pandemic it was closed to the public so it was disappointing to say the least.

I've always loved the State Capitol buildings and town halls in the South because their architecture is so elaborate and stunning, but Augusta's State Capitol runs a close second. It's very impressive, and the grounds and nearby Capitol Park are well maintained.

Augusta is sandwiched between Portland and Bangor but the state capital is quite beautiful. The State does a nice job maintaining the grounds and the capital is located on a hill. The building was built around 1832 and serves as a beacon for the community. While there is not too much to see in Augusta this is one building that is worth a stop.…
