Very well presented the whole process and difficulties they had building this engineering wonder. Best view over the canal, and if you want to see it action while ships are passing you should visit it around 14 pm
A great 3 hour stay in the centre.

We watched some enormous ships going through the lock.
We decided to eat in the restaurant and so glad we did. The view are amazing and the food matches. At $70 for 2...More
We planned to visit here after a cruise through the Panama Canal. The website said it opened at 9.00am. We arrived at 9.20 due to heavy traffic to find it had been open since 8.00am. Entrance fees were shown as $15 when in fact they...More
Great facility with the museum proving the history of the canal. Great vantage points through out the building from restaurant or 2th floor tiered seating to the 4th floor to see tops of ships. We were extremely lucky yesterday as we saw 10 ships of...More
Overall, one of the best activities on our 5 day trip to Panama. Easy to get to (we drove our rental car from Gamboa), but the entrance is only marked from the Panama City side. The presentations at the visitor center are a little off....More

I find your question a little confusing ??do you want to go to the visitors center and see the Mira Flores locks and also experience the ride thru the locks and canal. I was only there once but we used the hop on /off bus($34 for one day/$37 for two days) to see most of panama city. You can check their routing and see if it suits you)The Maria Flores has a small museum($) and a grandstand to view ships going thru the Locks. I (and my wife)found the old city very interesting using the self walking guide. Taxi's are very reasonable and everyone uses American $$.
