This is Panama City's up and coming district. About 33% is done, 33% is under construction and 33% is gutted buildings.

Nice place to visit!!! Old architecture but with a lot of restored places. I didn’t have the opportunity to go there by night, but I heard that is a good place for a dinner.

This is where we purchased our Panama hats (which are made in Honduras). A delightful place to stop for a meal or snack. We had ice cream. The area is being re-constructed, so be careful. Lots of walking. We returned on a later day for...More

Initially, we were told this not a safe area at night. All this has changed, we stated right in the middle of this active area and never had any problems. At night it is a jumping, lively vial nightspot of restaurants and bars each with...More

The Casco Viejo walking tour was fantastic. This area is being revitalized and is a balanced mix of old and new and everything in between. Extensive work on existing structures is underway and more than half of the buildings have had some work done to...More

People told me the life of the city was here, and I had no reason to disbelieve, but still I was surprised at how charming the whole historical downtown was. We walked the area with a local who pointed out the history and architectural styles...More

This quaint old city brings one back in time. Definitely one of the larger and well maintained old city centers in the region.

The old quarter of Panama city is today a beautiful colourful neighbourhood full of shops, caffees, bars, restaurants, indians' markets, etc. including also renovated colonial mansions transformed in boutique hotels and private house, worth a visit at day and at night.
