One of the landmarks in Casco Viejo, a big church with gilded ornamentation, an important site and worth a quick visit.

This cathedral was impressive. From the gold altar to the sculptures, the room with mass being chanted--and the room full of nativity sets--nothing but a beautiful church

This Catholic Cathedral was started in the 1600's and opened in 1796. It is having a face lift now as the Pope is coming to visit in 2019. Didn't get to go inside but the architecture is great from the outside.

Interesting architecture outside with the two colors. Beautiful building. If you are coming by car, it can be a while as traffic in this part of town is horrible. I would get out earlier and walk if you can make it.

If you're visiting Casco Viejo, you'll most likely see this building as you wander around. It's in one of the main squares. It's incredibly beautiful. They were refurbishing it when I was there.

Stopped here while exploring the area. Definitely historic and something to admire. So calming to just be in the area.

Again, another lovely relic of the past under reno. The people were quite kind, even the panhandlers.

Hello, there was some construction going on around there but it didn't affect the cathedral. We went on August so it may be an issue now. Enjoy your trip.
