Trabant Tales: A Memorable Journey from Sofia to Buzludzha Monument

I chose to embark on the journey from Sofia to the Buzludzha Monument in a Trabant. No, I didn't really know what the Trabant was before discovering the tour online. The tour exceeded my expectations. Due to the slow pace of the car, you get to see all the villages along the way, and the villagers are quite happy to see a Trabant driving through. The car is constantly greeted with thumbs up, waves, and smiles. We even ran into a couple that had customized their Trabants when we stopped to look at a monument along the way. It was interesting to learn and be around those who are genuinely interested in this tiny little car. Danny kept the entire day filled with engaging conversations and provided so much information about the area and Bulgaria! I highly recommend this tour!!

Totally recommend! Dany's communication is great from booking through to the tour itself. Were picked us up from our hotel, on time and he was very friendly, giving us some fun history of the car before the tour began. Took us to some interesting places with some interesting facts, always happy to answer any questions we had. Took us to one place which was unexpectedly closed so took us to an alternative place which was slightly out of the city centre which was probably better as we got to see parts of Sofia we may not have seen. If you mention to Dany you would like a photo taken with the car, he'll sort out a good place for that to happen. Learnt a lot about the previous Bulgaria from this tour. Also surprisingly learnt how quite comfy the Trabi is!! Thanks Dany :-)

Great tour with Dany, the Trabant and the story of communism in Sofia
The tour has been really great. Dany explained us the stories behind the scenes about communism in Sofia. He is very knowledgeable, tells the stories with passion and with pedagogy. He fed our curiosity.
It was also great to have the short Trabant trip.

Personally, it has been the perfect tour to raise my awareness about the history of Sofia and Bulgaria, and to better know the transformation of the city over the decades.

I highly recommend the tour and the activities proposed by Dany and his team.
He really did not count the extra minutes after the tour, while we still had so many questions!

This was a brilliant tour. Danny was friendly and knew lots of history and was brilliant at answering all our questions - and we had many. The trabant really added to experience. Can’t recommend it enough.

Great way to see and learn about the city.
Very knowledgeable and helpful guide took us for a great tour of all the historic sites in the city and beyond.

Excellent historical knowledge presented in a fun and friendly way.

The car is great, attracted so much attention both when we were in and out of it. People taking photos, smiling and waving etc.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable and informative day out. Highly recommended.

Plenty of steps and plenty of food around Bulgarias capital city.
Very informative and tasty walking tour of Sofia taking in some of the best sites and food experiences in the capital. The host Dany was very knowledgeable and likeable and made the whole experience most enjoyable.

The markets are full of life and colour and Dany was able to answer pretty much any question on the history of the country.

The Reason we came to Bulgaria
When I first gazed upon the Trabant, I knew my day was made! Our guide, Danny was very exceptionally knowledgeable and accommodating. He answered every and all questions and looked after us well. At the end of the tour we got dropped off at the best pub in town! Highly recommend

A fantastic way to experience Sofia!

I'd recommend this tour to anyone who comes to Sofia! It's a great way to learn about the recent history that very much still impacts Bulgaria today. Our tour guide, Dancho was wonderful -- knowledgeable, personable, and easy to speak to. The Trabant is a excellent way to see Sofia from a unique pov, and it was great fun to see the reactions you get from older folk while driving around -- they must have many memories attached to this kind of car.

I've been living in Sofia for several years as a foreigner, and it was a wonderful unique experience to give my brother for his first visit. I plan to do it again when I get more visitors. Thanks Dancho! See you soon on another tour!

Excellent walking tour focusing on the city’s socialist/communist history

The guide was very knowledgeable about Sofia's socialist/communist history and he helped to bring it to life by relating the stories to the locations we visited. It was fascinating to find out about that period in the city’s history. The tour includes a short toilet/coffee break, which was useful. I highly recommend this tour!

Great walk around Sofia

Really well thought out and run tour. Daniel our guide had a huge group to contend with (c.40) and some really tricky attention seeking participants who he handled well. Really knew his stuff and brought it to life. Tour includes a loo and coffee stop.
Eventually we got rained off but still an excellent tour
Only downsides was the huge group which meant the tour ran over time
