We went in low season, and it’s worth the trek to it, but expect to wait if other people are there, especially families, we waitied for one family 20 mins, if you only want yourself in the shot, then it’s worth the wait.

I like the sign, but why is so popular. People taking pictures, seating on top of the letters, but why only montevideo, the full name San Felipe y Santigo deMontevideo will give extra room for all the turists and people won't have to wait for...More

Beside the Rambla there is Montevideo sign. After a long walk through whole rambla i reached the point. The green grass slopy nature of grounds attack me. Many people climb the sign and click photos.

The sign is nice, but the real reason to stop here is that there is a nice view of the beach and shoreline behind the sign. But the sign is a nice photo op, especially if you have kids who need to climb on something

The sign is often painted in different colors, so not always white. It sits right on the Rambla in a curve. From here you can take some very nice pictures of the beach and the Montevideo skyline. You won't be alone, so ask a stranger...More

The MONTEVIDEO letters are constantly changing, Preferably go in the morning as the sun faces it in the afternoon. Nice place to take a good shot, however you have to be patient and wait your turn as dozens of tourists want to have the same...More

If you like mobs of crazy people milling around and hanging all over the sign and taking pictures, you’ll love this place. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. The view behind the sign is spectacular though lol P.S. this was the only picture I...More

I suppose it tells the photo viewers that you made it to Montevideo, but it is just a sign. It was across the street from my hotel, so I walked by it and was a photographer for multiple families that wanted to take a photo...More

Unless you feel a burning desire to have your photo with the Montevideo sign, there's no need to seek it out specifically. It is a nice photo-op but you'll probably just stumble across it while walking la Rambla; certainly wouldn't recommend a significant trek to...More
