This was a great mountain bike trip! The terrain is beautiful and we got to places we never would have found ourselves. Riding is challenging but not insane (we might be a little older than most people riding there). The long descents (we rode 99% downhill) are super fun and at the bottom you have a bite and do it again. We rode through big open passes, villages, fields, herds of alpacas and tons of singletrack. Then more singletrack. And then more. I had no idea how much riding was there. There's a lot of variety on the trails because of the altitude range (about 9,000 to 14,000 feet) - going from high mountain tundra to desert rock/sand to woods along the rivers. Views from the top are just huge.
Our guide Yuri was great. He's a fantastic rider, knows every inch of the trails in the area and got us to push ourselves quite a bit. Yuri is also a great travel companion with a good sense of humor. He seems to know literally everyone in the Sacred Valley and was able to show us a lot of the culture as well as the nature. Unlike a lot of other places, where things like the old buildings and towns are set apart like parks, the Inca structures are everywhere and the stone roads are still in use. The combination of the culture & the riding is unique and well worth the trip.
Logistics were really easy. We had a great driver (El Gato) who got us to/from Cusco and kept us safe on some pretty high roads - generally took great care of us. Do bring all the spares KB recommends as there are few bike shops in the area.
Ollantaytambo is a really pretty little town and a nice place to stay. Food is good and there are lots of choices. We didn't find the fresh fruit market until the last couple of days which was a mistake - there are all kinds of tropical fruit there that we don't see at home. And of course, Macchu Pichu. It's everything they say it is and well worth the effort to get there. KB made all the train/ticket arrangements which was a huge help as it is a bit complicated.

This was the most amazing way to see Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley! Having the guides coordinate transportation and tell us the history was an absolute game changer. They gave us an insider scoop on the culture and were very trustworthy. We even got a cooking class from our guide Gato's family. Would 100% recommend!

The BEST experience! This is was my second time back to Peru and the difference in experiences was night and day! My first trip in 2013 was a pretty standard tourist trip, seeing the things everyone sees when they go to cusco/machu picchu. My experience in 2023 with KB Tambo was extraordinary! From incredible bike touring, to hiking to the sun gate in Ollantaytambo, to experienced and knowledgeable guides that got us to Machu Picchu before the masses so we could have an unencumbered view of the beautiful ancient city!

We had a great time in Peru. KB helped me navigate and plan my family trip. They provided for our transportation for our full day Sacred Valley tour as well as airport transfer from our Ollantay hotel. Our vehicle was a brand new, pristine clean Toyota van. Their driver Ferdinand was very safe and always arrived on time as requested. I definitely recommend this company to any family with kids on their Peru trip.

I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD. We booked a custom trip to mnt bike and hike Machu Picchu with KB Tambo and I was blown away with how seamless and fun the trip was. I’ve traveled a ton and I don’t think I can ever go back to handling the logistics myself. We just booked another trip to go to Cuba with KB 🤣

Crazy fun, adventurous trip of a lifetime!! We have never hired a tour guide before, so we were hesitant, but we LOVED not having to worry about when and where to go. We just knew we would be picked up every morning and taken care of. Our driver, Gato, was perfect. Our days were planned for us which was SO nice! It was amazing to go play hard during the day, biking and hiking and getting dirty, then coming home to a nice hotel to clean up and have a good night's rest each night. I was worried about not being in too great of shape for the biking (I even went to spin class at my local gym a couple of months before the trip!), but most of it was downhill. Our guide was a professional mountain biker, so I felt confident having him with us. I loved cruising through the countryside and seeing how the locals live. Experiencing the unique Inca ruins, learning more about the history of Peru, and being the first to Machu Picchu just as the cloud cover faded away and we were able to see the breathtaking ruins in the quiet reverence of the early morning was a moment I will never forget. Hiking past Machu PIcchu up Waynapicchu Mountain was definitely worth the extra effort! The hike was straight up and reminded me of Angel's Landing in Zions National Park with the most rewarding views!
Some not so fun moments: One of the guys in our party got food poisoning and was so sick for 24 hours. A few of us got altitude sickness, but they stopped the van to let us catch some fresh air and gave us some oil which really helped! When we were hiking to Aquas Calientes, it starting raining, but it only added to the adventure! It also rained while we were mountain biking, but that just make the waterfalls bigger and the river crossings more fun.
Overall, I would highly recommend this trip to anyone! We will cherish the memories we made as a family forever!

My two friends and I booked the Full Day "Super Day Sacred Valley Tour" and we had the most amazing and adventurous time. This tour included a very nice and comfortable and spacious white minivan and included stops at the Salt Mines, Moray, Chincheros, Pisac Market, and the Pisac Ruins. The booking process was very easy and the communication was fast, efficient, and comprehensive. Our fantastic guide, Abraham, and our driver with nickname, El Gato, made the experience truly worthwhile. We were allowed to pick the start time, which we picked 8 am. They were timely with the pick up at our hostel in Cusco and then we began the relaxing journey to all of the sites. The driving was superb. I never felt unsafe. At each stop, Abraham took the time to describe all of the sites that we were looking at. I also felt that we were not rushed and had an appropriate amount of time at each site. His English is fantastic as well! He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, genuine, and relatable. Abraham also seems extremely popular as he knew a lot of people at every site that we visited. At the end of the trip, they personally dropped us off at our hotel in Ollanta.
Overall, I would highly recommend going with KB if you want to see all the "must see" sites of the Sacred Valley. We chose this company because the price was VERY reasonable, we needed someone to take us to Ollanta from Cusco, and we wanted to see all of the listed above sites in one day. Again, I had a great experience and I will most definitely be recommending this company to anyone in the future that is in the area.

We booked the Machu Pichu Adventure tour (not sure that’s the official name) in the fall of 2022 and then when the strikes happened KB very generously let us cancel although he was confident the country would reopen. And it did- so we rebooked same dates as a private tour bc people were still freaked out. We had a great guide Abraham and his trusty sidekick (driver) El Gato. We mtn biked, road horses, and hiked some fascinating trails to amazing ruins. The level of activities was challenging but not crazy (I’m 56). Some biking I opted out of but my husband did. We stayed at a decent hotel in ollantaytambo (Tunupa) This is a no-frills place but it was clean, safe, had hot showers and the people were friendly.
We had read a great book called The Last Days of the Incas by Kim MacQuarrie. Which really helped lay the groundwork so we could focus on where all the things we read about happened. Abraham was a wealth of information each day. He helped us learn about each site and how it fit into the larger narrative of the Inca/Spanish Situation. We were so grateful to have a friendly and funny guide to ourselves!
We took the train to Machu Pichu but there are many heartier options! We had wonderful food in Ollantaytombo (see other reviews). We spent the last 2 nights in Cusco at the Inka Palace (Marriott Luxury Collection). (Not part of the tour). This is an amazing hotel with a rich history!
KB is great to work with- responsive and knowledgeable! You can’t go wrong booking through him especially if you want some “active “ but not “4-days hiking uphill and camping outside” active!

Great tour! Really great info - highly recommended. Chinchero was especially interesting given how much it is likely to change with the airport being built.

My husband and I went to Ollantaytamo in mid-May 2022 for a mountain biking adventure. We had a great group! We met our guide Yuri and driver Gato on a Friday and for an entire week we were a family. We kicked off the MTB adventure on top of the world, we rode steep, rocky, wet, mushy, dry and rocky conditions. We were challenged and rewarded with increased skills, confidence and amazed by the epic beauty of the Sacred Valley. Yuri was a wonderful guide. He taught all of us skills to help us become better bikers, introduced us to his culture and made us feel like we were his own brothers and sisters. Gato, was the best driver! Without fail each day he loaded our bikes and safely transported us to our location. Yuri and Gato patiently practices Spanish with us and just welcomed us with open arms to this amazing world. I was so sad when the trip ended and a part of heart remains in Peru. This was the best experience I have had in my short 42 years on this earth. I would encourage anyone and everyone to spend time in this valley. Without a doubt it will change your life!

Buenos dias! I would like to know if the Inca Jungle 3D/2N tour is available 12/4/2020 or 13/5/2020 for 2 adults? The KB Tambo website indicates minimum of 2 people while booking on Tripadvisor requires minimum of 3 people. I emailed Kbperu@hotmail... but have not received a response. Muchas gracias!
