Visiting Machu Picchu (and getting there via trekking the Inca Trail) was high on my bucket list, so I organised a trek there through BackTrack in Brisbane, Australia and Intrepid tours (using Peak in Peru). I went in wet season as it was off season....More

Machu Picchu is a destination to be appreciated for its beauty and the uniqueness of it cultural heritage. The train ride to and from is enjoyable. I would recommend having a guide to fully appreciate the site.

Yes, I know - this is Machu-Picchu and everyone's supposed to give it 5* review. But for a truth's sake here's couple of minuses: - there's no free map available. They gave me a map upon request, but the next person got unfriendly "we do...More

This site is exactly as we imagined it would be. Although the history is less mystical than the myths, I have no idea how anyone would find fault with this place. We were worried about the weather, as March is still the "rainy" season, but...More

Ok, I will admit to a Level 10 fear of heights. The same was true of some of our group. But our guides were so kind and so understanding, we overcame our fears and did the whole route – and really enjoyed it! Came away...More

No words will be enough for these place. How wonderful and energetic city. You can be there most of the day, there are guides and a very expensive restaurant. Plan to take a small backpack with goodies, and please pick up your trash!

You should try & do Rainbow Mountains when you are in Cusco, I am really sorry I didn't make it there as I ran out of time, and so cheap to do if the hostel you stay at arranges it, some people preferred it to Machu Pichu
