We finally got to Machu Picchu, and it was epic! I won´t repeat the same phrases already mentioned, I will say that 1 day is not enough and we are glad we did our visit of Machu Picchu over two days. We are also very...More

Views are stunning, ruins are reconstructed and everything else is for profit. The Peruvian Government does not care about tourist welfare, that's obvious. They only want your dollars. No information center, site museum, not even a flyer. Just busking guides, extortionate food prices, and even...More

We visited Machu Picchu during June 2017. Expensive as it may be, it is worth every penny! The environment, surroundings and the site per se are one of a kind, breahtaking and unique! However, here are a few tips if you are visiting the area:...More

We didn't book a pre-guided tour or went with any sort of tour guide. We took the train from Ollantaytambo and then took the bus that winds up the road to drop off its passengers at the entrance. Still a bit of a climb left...More

I don't think I have words for how amazing this place is. My friend and I had seen Machu Picchu in pictures, but nothing could have prepared us for the sheer magnitude of it. We arrived at sunrise and stayed until closing, spending 11 hours...More

I visited last month and our G Adventures guide told us that the worst time to visit Machu Picchu is February because it is the rainiest month and the roads become very dangerous. Not only that but a rained out trip can... More

How "in shape" do you have to be? I can walk with no problem. Climbing might be a little harder but am looking at the altitude also. Does this play a big role in breathing and difficulty with exertion. My husband and I are in our mid 50s and not big exercise buffs!
