Breathtaking. I recommend hiking Huayna Picchu and getting the amazing view back over Machu Picchu. Remember it is in a cloud forrest so there will always be bad visibility, wait 5 minutes and it will clear. It's a tough hike up Huayna Picchu but worth it. Machu Picchu itself is amazing. Lammas graze the grounds and there's a number of... More

What to say? Wonderful place. Everyone has to go at least once. Bring your own water and some coca based sweets to deal with the soroche (altitude sickness) and a good camera for tons of photos.

I've seen pictures of Machu Picchu and it looks amazing, but seeing it in real life doesn't even compare. It is so immense and huge. Absolutely beautiful. In the morning it is really cloudy so I would recommend going in the afternoon. Also all the people leave at about 1 to go to lunch. So you get better pictures after... More

Almost thought to give up on it, but don't! It's crowded and very touristic, but what you're gonna see here is so amazing! Could have just sit and gaze for the entire day... Not much to say, it's very famous worldwide. Prices: train - 75$ one way from Machu Picchu, bus from the city bellow agua calientes is 12$ one... More

If you’re reading this, chances are good that you’ve already decided to go to Machu Picchu, in which case, good decision. I have just visited it for the second time – the first was 41 years ago in 1976 – and I was just as impressed now as then. I won’t go into detail about the attraction itself. Many others... More

The site of this archeological wonder is incredible. To think that a civilization was able to create this engineering and archeological masterpiece so many hundreds of years ago is beyond understanding and to thin that this civilization no longer exists is very unfortunate. Travel to arrive at the site is complicated but is well worth the trouble. Although I have... More

After several days of walking the Inca Trail to come over the last mountain, shortly after dawn, and view Machu Picchu was amazing. Amazing to to see an ancient city, built only by human labor on top of a mountain, planned for everyday living---bathrooms, sewage disposal, streets, housing, and thoughtfully engineered to minimize earthquake damage, AND provide for the study... We are 60 years old and hiked the 4 day Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Coming through the Sun Gate and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time was a dream come true. What a sight! We arrived around 8:00 am and at this time the bus loads of tourists had not arrived so we had the place to... More
