Upon first glance at this rock, while it is impressive on it's own, the alignment to the mountain in the background is incredible. Stand back a little and take a close look at both and you will be amazed. Not out of the way if...More

I wouldn't go far out of my way to see this, but you don't have to. It's right there in Machu Picchu and it's like ten steps off a path you'd probably already be on, anyway. The cool thing about it is threefold; it sort...More

This is a brief but interesting stop while visiting Machu Picchu. You can rest at the covered pavilions while you ponder the effort it took to carve the rock to match the mountains.

This stone is a good representation of the mountain line behind it in the distance. As with all the other stones in the area, it too is hand carved.

This is a rock that would have been of religious significance for the Incas. It is thought to have been carved in exactly the same shape as the mountain behind. Just stunning! Worth spending a few moments here when you’re visiting Machu Picchu.

Yes, this is just a rock. However, the story is the impressive piece. It was carved to mirror the mountain range behind it. Some say it looks like a guinea pig, which I can see as well. In any case, it's certainly not THE reason...More

The story behind the rock(literally), this is the outline of the mountains behind this rock. It is impressive how the Inkas carved this rock in the same shape of the mountain range in back of this rock. It is like a puzzle piece of the...More
