This is a brief but interesting stop while visiting Machu Picchu. You can rest at the covered pavilions while you ponder the effort it took to carve the rock to match the mountains.

This stone is a good representation of the mountain line behind it in the distance. As with all the other stones in the area, it too is hand carved.

This is a rock that would have been of religious significance for the Incas. It is thought to have been carved in exactly the same shape as the mountain behind. Just stunning! Worth spending a few moments here when you’re visiting Machu Picchu.
