I sold my sons on a visit to this church by telling them about the bones they'd be able to see in the catacombs. I don't think they were disappointed! Of equal interest to my husband and me, however, was the beautiful church, with woodwork...More
Haha, we were here during Halloween week, so all the catacombs and old dried bones made for a real, honest to goodness haunted house. The visit was interesting and informative but was not a wow for me.
Visitors can only visit through a docent led tour (English or Spanish). It was about an hour total. Interesting information shared. The crypts were neat as well. This is best for school aged kids due to the tour before getting to the crypts. Our six...More
The cathedral is very beautiful inside. The outside is deceiving. Outside there are people selling items & feels a little unsafe. The inside has beautiful silver. We watched them cleaning some. It was very busy inside.
Visited this location on the last day of our trip before going to the airport. They kindly stored our luggage while we took a tour, which was helpful. The tour given in English was informative and well priced.

Beautiful building and the catacombs were fascinating. Recommend...and for children if they're...More

Ladies do not need to be covered and it was not shorts weather when we were there, so I can't offer an opinion on the shorts question. My guess is that knee length shorts would not be a problem, but they might react to short shorts. Lima is not that warm a place even in their summer in my experience. Enjoy.
