Hernan is extremely knowledgable and able to share his knowledge in an engaging and interactive way. He is local tour guide from Cusco and is fluent in English language. From the moment he met us with his driver Jonathan at the airport, we developed trust and confidence that he will provide great guiding service and he didn’t disappoint. Both Hernan and Jonathan are professional and very helpful.
We are two friends traveling from Canada and before we arrived in Peru, Hernan was very quick to respond to our messages and questions by email and WhatsApp. He recommended best itinerary for the 4 days we spend in Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. He knows the area very well, and based on your budget he can also recommend hotels, restaurants and best places to visit.
Everything worked out perfectly for us, and considering we arrived in January expecting rain, even the weather cooperated. We had wonderful time visiting Machu Picchu the “Lost City of the Incas”, many temples and Inca ruins, Maras salt mines, Moray farming Inca site, Chinchero, Llama and Alpaca farms, the central market in Cusco, Sacsayhuaman, Cristo Blanco and many other attractions from the Inca culture.

Thank you Hernan for providing such a wonderful travel experience for us!

I think now is the time to go to Peru. We had such a great experience visiting our "bucket list" wish of seeing Machu Picchu. We were so lucky that we had Hernan to guide us. From the time we arrived at Cusco until we departed Hernan helped us plan and visit many sites around the city and then he amazingly met us at Machu Picchu for a private tour catered to our interests. The sites are amazing but it was immeasurably better with Hernan's local expertise. We were able to make plans via email:hernanhermoza77@hotmail.com We absolutely recommend him as your favorite tour guide.

I left an excellent review of my prior experience traveling with Hernan Hermosa as my family's tour guide through Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley. I have since had several people reach out to me for his contact information. Hernan can be reached at hernanhermoza77@hotmail.com

Hernan is an absolute legend! Professional, friendly and well organized. His English is perfect, which was nice as Americans.
Look no further. He's the best guide for Cusco, Lima and Peru!
We have spent two separate weeks in Peru with him and plan to go again.

Based on the great reviews here, I contacted Hernan in hopes that he would guide my group of four on a Sacred Valley tour, overnight in Ollantaytambo, and then a full-day hiking the one-day Inca Trail (also known as the KM 104 trail, because that is where the train stops to let the hikers off) and touring Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, Hernan was already booked for our dates. However he offered to arrange the trip with another guide, Justino Onton Vera. I hesitated initially because I could find no information online about Justino. But on the strength of the positive reviews here about Hernan, we decided to go with Justino. It was a great decision. Justino was an amazing guide, full of knowledge about the area and adept at conveying it in an engaging way to each of the members of our group of ages ranging from 52 to 23. Justino speaks excellent English, has tons of connections in the area (he knew people at every site, which allowed us to skip lines and otherwise meet interesting, friendly locals), and is funny, positive and engaging.
Prior to contacting Hernan, I contacted many tour companies in the area about arranging the personalized tour I described above, and each time I was told that it either couldn’t be done in the short time we had or would be very expensive. Hernan quoted a much more reasonable price and he and Justino really followed through. I heartily recommend both of them.

Hernan met us at the Cusco airport and we drove through the Scared Valley the first day. Hernan is a native of the area and has the most wonderful stories and experiences from his youth to share with you. His English is impeccable and very easy to understand. We saw natives weaving with beautiful fabrics, visited amazing salt flats and walked around incredible Inca ruins. The next day Hernan met us for our tour of Machu Picchu. Wow, what can I say but this place is incredible and to have Hernan as your guide really made all the beauty and history of this site come alive. He is the very BEST guide you could possibly ask for. Book his tour Today !!!

Hernan made our trip to the Sacred Valley so incredible! I reached out to him a few months before we traveled to Peru, and he suggested the itinerary (gave us options depending on how long we could spend in the area), and then he took care of booking all the park tickets, got our train tickets, and arranged the driver. It made planning our trip so easy!
Once we arrived in Cuzco, I knew we were in experienced, capable hands. He is so knowledgeable about the history, the culture, and the geography of the Sacred Valley, and she shared all of that knowledge in a way that kept even our teen and tween interested. And he brought us to incredible local restaurants for lunch!
I highly recommend hiring him for your Sacred Valley visit!

I can't recommend enough. An excellent tour guide who knows all the best places and people. He works hard to make sure your group is safe, well taken care of, and have the trip of a lifetime. Our family has used his services twice with plans to visit again in the future. Honestly, look no further for the trip of your dreams in Peru.

Hernan is excellent. I gaurantee this will be the best tour to Quillabamba and choquequirao you can find. He is a great guide, both thorough and knowledgeable. He is one of the best tour guides I have ever used and always makes our trip a memorable experience. This is actually our second time to come to peru and do a tour with Hernan a because his tours are just so well organized and planned. It makes travel less stressful with more time to focus on the beautiful sights/ruins.

What an amazing experience! Hernan exceeded every expectation we could have had. The hike itself was just incredible. Hernan is very well versed in the trail. He's been hiking it since he started as a porter at 14 years old. He knows the history, the plants, the birds....he could answer any question we asked him. He speaks wonderful English and is skilled at taking the group at the speed it needs to go.
We were so surprised by how deluxe the arrangements were. The food was incredible and so plentiful. The tents, sleeping bags and pads were very thick and comfortable. I am not someone who sleeps easily in a tent but it was very nice.
I fell in love w Peru and the Andes and can't wait to go back.
If you're thinking about going, I can't imagine a better guide than Hernan. He's like our family now!

Thank you for your review. How can I contact Herman? (No one seems to mention this in their reviews!)
Thanks so much for your help!

Please type in Hernan (note, not Herman) in the search bar on TripAdvisor. Look for my review (JennInSD) as I posted his email at the bottom of my review. TripAdvisor won’t allow me to add it to this answer. More that it may take a few days for him to get back to you as he’s usually out all day and into the evenings. Hope this helps!

I was wondering how I could get in touch withHernan? Does he have an email address? We will be in the Sacred Valley in March 2019. There will be four of us. We were looking at going to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.

Our guide was Hernan Hermoza Gamarra, and you can reach him via email. He uses hotmail email service, and his "email name" is hernanhermoza77
He does get booked well in advance, so planning ahead is wise. He will give you good recommendations for your itinerary, including what tickets to get, trains to reserve, suggestions for hotels, etc.
He's good about replying, but is sometimes away for days at a time with no wifi access, maybe on Inca Trail, so be patient if he doesn't answer right away. Hernan, who is from the Sacred Valley, is based in Cusco, and speaks excellent English. We recommend him highly.

Is it expected that a client will pay for a tour guide's meals in Peru?
Yulia Y
Odesa, Ukraine22 contributions
I have no idea if it is expected in Peru. We always do so if we stop for a meal during the tour that is guided anywhere in the world we go. We did not do that with Hernan as we just had no time for that. We invited him to join us for a meal in MP but he refused i guess because he was getting late for the train for locals.
