The San Blas area is very beautiful and has a historic significance. This is very close to the Plaza De Armas and the street leading up to San Blas is very cute and nice.

Lovely atmosphere, cool architecture, good bars and restaurants - well worth going there......even though the climb is reasonably challenging (to say the least!), especially if you haven’t got used the altitude

Most of the small shops are open until 9pm, especially the ones in the center, near Plaza de Armas. The markets, though, close at 5pm.
