You are not allowed to take pictures from inside, so to keep the artifacts safe. We were expecting children to pay 20 sol, but it was only 10 sol even for internationals. You are not allowed to take in bags, but you are allowed to...More

Excellent museum. Very informative and the exhibits well displayed. There is a video presentation which gives the history of the discovery and it is very close to the centre of town

It's all about the adolescent who was sacrificed by the Incas, left high up in the mountains nearby and her body was found 500 years ago. Just fascinating. The only negative is that they bring you through on a tour, and you don't have extra...More

The National Geographic movie was really good. And then to go through the museum with a guide explaining was great! The grand finale was Juanita! Well worth the entry fee!

This was a really good museum portrayal of an intriguing story. It was 'brought to life' by the initial film show and then the tour takes you through the details of what is a legendary tale about one sacrificial victim. The guide was excellent and...More

We visited here mainly to view the Juanita Mummy, the well preserved frozen body of a young Incan sacrifice victim. I, personally, found the experience a little disturbing. The museum also houses a number of artifacts found during the expedition that discovered Juanita.

The visit starts with a 20 minute video explaining the culture behind the sacrifices. After this you are taken around the museum to be shown and explained each exhibit. The tour guides are not paid so you need to tip the guide at the end...More

Very special and intriguing little museum. The Juanita mummy itself is kind of creepy. Don’t forget to tip the guide. They speak English well.

We took advantage of a personal guide. Started out with a 20 minute National Geographic movie exposing the discovery of human sacrifices 500 years old. Those murdered to appease the Gods to prevent volcanic activity were ages 8 through 14. Whilst I had heard of...More

Informative and different from most museums. Guides were very knowledgeable. Be prepared, it’s quite dark inside.

From what i can see in Google, the hours are 9am to 6pm. With Juanita, I would check first as they do remove her for a few months of the year and replace her with one of the other Ice Mummies. Hope this helps

When you are in Arequipa, stop by and confirm if Juanita is there before you buy your tickets. They might have other mummys or attractions in May. The museum is in downtown Arequipa, so do this as you are walking through... More
