Nearly every city has one and I made sure we checked out the plaza in every city we stopped. Much to see if you're a people watcher. Always good food and plenty to drink as well as trinkets, souvenirs and people looking for handouts. Most...More

I mean it! !Don't make arrogant announcements if you have never been outside your backyard". For years, before travelling to Peru, I heard locals describe the "incredible" beauty of Arequipa's main square, so I was already fearing some sort of disappointment. And when I finally...More

This is my favorite city square so far! In the day and at night it is beautiful with lots of people around. Totally safe and such a great feeling!! We love the architecture.

This is a lovely place for photographs, strolling or simply people watching. The architecture is stunning, with colonnaded walkways housing shops and restaurants. One side of the plaza is taken up by the magnificent city cathedral.

Lovely plaza. Obviously the main plaza, full of tourists and 1000 people trying to persuade you to buy their wares, tours or come to their restaurant. Tried to avoid the area after my initial visit

Possibly the most beautiful central square in Peru - certainly one of them! With many attractive bars and restaurants in the square and the surrounding streets

Ending up going there every day during my 5 day visit to the city. Very practical. Many other attractions worth visiting within 10 minutes from the square. How they can keep the square clean is truly amazing.

After a few countries in Central and South America this is by far the most beautiful main square of any city we visited. Be sure not to miss the sunset at the rooftop bar at the east of the square.

The backdrop offers wonderful views off this square. All The buildings around are truly beautiful. Have a snack in any of the restaurants around and admire The Misti volcano.

Arequipa's Plaza de Armas looks beautiful thanks to the cathedral on one side, and the nice gardens and fountain in its middle. On the couple of occasions I've been there during the day, there were big events, with music and dancing festivals, and for free.

Beautiful plaza with lots of benches to sit, enjoy and relax. Like many squares, you may get harassed by shoe shiners, sellers and annoying restaurant owners but it's all to be expected. Overall it's super clean and nice. In the two days we spent here,...More
