Fires burning in the fireplaces and candle light (not LEDs) make for a magical tour of this historic large convent. Do take the guide and then linger longer for a rich experience.

The monastery was probably the best thing to do in Arequipa as far as museums/historic sites go. The tour lasts about an hour if you go with a guide. I definitely recommend going with the guide. Our guide was very informative.

Need a guide to give you all the interesting facts about the monastery on how the nuns lived, and the reasons for tall n short doors, the use of servants. Lots of paintings and artefacts to muse over.

Give yourself about two hours in this place and pay the extra 20 soles for a guided tour. The history and the stories are great to hear with a guide and then you can wander around on your own and take poctures after the tour...More

We did the tour and the history is incredible. A cloistered convent that is called a Monastery. The colors are gorgeous and the small bake shop on site in the garden is very peaceful. We stayed after the tour. Only disappointment was that we weren't...More

A once-closed convent community. Behind the front doors the place opens up to buildings & streets with a compound. Very photogenic - orange walls, blue walls, small alleyways and squares. Many different buildings & rooms, including the inevitable gift-shop. Much religious artwork. There are still...More
