Definitely worth a stop in especially given the price. We went here while trying to stay awake after an overnight flight so maybe it is better than we thought. A good overview of ecuadorian history

And - it is a Wonderful place. Best museum in Ecuador, I thought. Lots of ethnological exhibits. I am not a huge "museum fan," but this one is definitely worth your time.

Official Quito travel guide app lists this but it's closed and no information available at the premises. Such a disappointment! Went round and round the building in search of an open door without any luck.

Closed and no information there about when it will open. Strange as you can walk round for ages trying to find your way in and then when you finally do, it's closed!

Unfortunately the National Museum is still closed and no one I talked to (Front desk, concierge, cab drive, city tour guide) knew when it would be open.

My husband and I went with his family (locals) to the museum. When we got there we were told that it would remain closed until Jan 15. The reason my family was told, is that there was corruption within the administration where items began to...More
