The main church of the country has an imposing presence in the Plaza de Armas. Four prior versions were destroyed by earthquakes. Building to counter same makes for a slightly heavy sense to the interior. Often typical of architectural changes over the years, the baroque...More

I enjoy visiting churches as they are eyes to the local history of the people and the area. This is a typical Catholic Cathedral with all the art and glitter associated with Churches. The raised altar is reminiscent of the Spain and depics the influence...More

A stunningly beautiful Plaza de Armas with colonial architecture mixed with contemporary buildings right next to it. Amazing to see the mix of both and how they blend together into the city centre. Bonus - free WiFi!

We were in awe when we entered the Church, it is grandiose and so beautiful. Nothing to envy to one of those European cathedrals.

The Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedral Metropolitana) located off Plaza de Armas is a Must Visit. We felt very comfortable during our visit to Santiago, and our research clearly indicated a visit to Catedral Metropolitana. Catedral Metropolitana rivals the cathedrals of Spain. We allowed nearly an hour...More
