After walking around town and back at the hotel we realised that apparently the square is a big tourist attraction, we disagree, it’s just a square like any other square.

Lively square close to the Costanera. Young and old hang out at this square with musicians and vendors

This is a small square not really representative of typical Spanish towns. The square is paved with some trees,but not really that attractive. However, I believe it does represent the industrial nature of this medium size city. I would not make a special trip here.

Stopped briefly while on tour. The plaza is located in the center of the city, surrounded by important public buildings, government, court of appeals, commerce and the cathedral. It is attractive with many statues and ornaments, a fountain, public seating and "old" style lighting fixtures....More

Our hotel was close by, and on the weekend, the music from the Plaza de Armas made it hard to sleep over the weekend. It is very much a gathering place for locals.

We enjoyed being in the Plaza de Armas and learning about the history of the area. It was not a "must see," but interesting.

This plaza de armas isn't the most impressive one you'll find in this part of Chile, but nonetheless it is worth passing by it.
