Top ways to experience Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Marina Bay
More of a mini city than a neighbourhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.

Singapore has a great transportation system. The ability to tap our credit card when entering made paying easy without having to purchase a card.

Cheap, clean, quick and walking underground between stations is easy. Most stations either have access to shopping centres or are situated very close to shopping centres.

No safe distancing on MRTs. Singapore gov doesn't care if covid spreads on MRTs. Still covering up their $h!t.
Prepare for breakdowns at random times. Monthly there will be ones.

Better be careful when taking MRTs in Singapore.

Once you have the Ezkink Card which you can top-up at any of the stations the MRT is a great way of getting around. As a tourist you want to avoid early mornings and the end of the working day which can be a little crowded. Easy to transfer from one lane to another even if you are disabled or have a baby stroller. There are priority seats for disabled, elderly and young mothers or mothers to be. Information about the next station and where to go to get the next line. There are people to help, but after a few trips you'll be at ease using the network. Ezlink card also used on bus network. All stations have lifts, escalators, toilets and shops. A great network for getting around, even if you are taking fold-up bikes, but don't do it at rush hours.

Loved riding the trains. They are easy to use, clearly marked, and clean and safe. Don't be afraid to use the subways to get around, even if only for a day. They offer a $20 all day pass which is a great option for tourists.

Best way to move around Singapore fast. If you have missed your metro, you do not have to wait long for the next one. My personal opinion is also that it's cheap (compared with the Amsterdam metro system).

7 lines and connectivity all over the city! Bus stations right outside each MRT and easy to enter and exit with clear sign boards for all exits. Clean trains, clean platforms, accessible to all, and restrooms in all stations - Singapore MRT was a pleasure to use!

If you are at all familiar with the London or Paris metro/underground systems, this will be a snap. And if you are not, the routes are well marked, plenty of maps are available. The only glitch is that, if you want to pay for a one-time trip (not buy a card) you have to have a credit card that "taps" on the reader, otherwise you can't get in.

Easy to use and lots of options for tourists. You can be day and multiple days cards which refund the card deposit when used. We just went with debit card tap option as we weren’t using the MRT a lot/ for the Airport. Easy to get everywhere and very well with posted. Nice and clean compared to other transport systems around the world.

Foreigner could used a credit card to take MRT ride. if you have a kid (5 years or below) just carry him/her when going thru the ticketing gate.
