We went to China Town a couple of times and it definetly comes to life at night and has the bonus of being much cooler. Eating here is a must in one of the hawker centers (just off Smith Road), for a great value tasty dish. Also, hold off buying anything in a mall until you've come here - it's much cheaper!

We were staying in Clarke Quay and the main reason we came here was to visit the Tourist Info Centre and subsequently because the nearest laundromat was at Chinatown.
However, it was interesting walking around Chinatown and we did visit the Tooth Relic Temple and went to the numerous places where the art murals were. It was multicultural as there was a mosque and an Indian temple within the vicinity. However, it was a pity that the Heritage Centre was not open.
The only place we ate was the Teh Tarik place (Indian) whilst in-between washing our laundry so can't comment on the price and quality of the Chinese cafes in the heart of Chinatown. We did eat at the People's Park Food Centre across the main road though and the food was good with cheap prices costing less than SGD5 per dish.

Growing up in San Francisco, CT is a normal visit. We have also seen CT in New York, Indonesia, Malaysia and dozens of other cities.
This one does not stand out in any way. COVID may be part of the problem, as Singapore only opened up to tourists in the last month, so many vendors were missing. We ate at one upscale restaurant recommended by a vendor... and then gave that place a 2-star because it was pretty bad... :(

Been 2+ years since we visited. Thanks pandemic.
Very very quiet and dead which is weird.
Lots of the shops seemed to be closed, even the restaurants were empty.

I don't always recommend this
This place was full of people and noisy
Even they can speak well English but they don't even close to the manner of the western
Nice food and special culture

It is worth walking around the neighborhood. There are some interesting buildings and markets including some basement wet markets.

Здравствуйте, как доехать из аэропорта на метро до Чайна таун?
Natalia B
33 contributions
Очень просто: в аэропорту находите метро по табличкам, спускаетесь - вы уже находитесь на зеленой нитке метро! Пересаживаетесь через одну остановку на станции Tanah Merah на направление Joo Koon(Tuas Link)
