With reportedly one of the longest city circular walls in the world, this defensive structure was built to protect the Ming Dynasty in the 1300's. For me the most interesting aspect was that individual bricks in the wall were "signed" to indicate where they were...More

Wall was extremely long! I took 3 hours to walk the entire wall but luckily there is a paid tram ride so was able to get to Fuzimiao in 10 mins.

Thought the wall would've been a little more special, with more history narratives, but it's pretty much just a wall. Much wider than the Great Wall, so it looks more formidable and impressive in terms of scale. The carved calligraphy on the bricks are probably...More

I expected to see more about the history of the wall. Perhaps, the special features of the wall, e.g. the calligraphy on the bricks should be given a little more prominence, as this could easily be missed if you are not aware of it. The...More

A very well presented city wall similar to Xian. Exits and entrances can be problematic if you just wander along the base of the wall. Excellent views of the lake.

Nexus holidays took us through Nanjing and i was surprised to see a fully intact unbroken wall that surrounds the city. It was completed by the Ming dynasty. Apparently the japanese imperial army could not break through for 6 months as the troops behind the...More

Erected about 600 years ago by the emperor of the Ming Dynasty. The wall was one of the largest ever built. The whole wall is not there today but much of it remains intact. Nice visit

I was unable to go to the top but the wall is breathtaking and in wonderful condition. I suggest looking into the history prior to your visit.

When you hear about walls in China, everybody thinks of the Great Wall first. However, the City Wall around Nanjing is very impressive in its own rite. It's taller and wider than much of the Great Wall and encircles the large city of Nanjing, which...More

It depends where you coming from. There is bus from city center but taxi is not very expensive either. Best place is to go to Gate of China as this is the most historic and well preserved part. You can walk on the wall for... More
