Quite fascinating and very sad. This prison held members of the Communist Party who were then tortured and murdered at location before and after the rise to power of Communism in China. Can see the torture chambers and dungeon-like cells the prisoners were kept in.

The Gele Hill area is an area of former prison camps and monuments to the people killed there. Visiting all the historic sites involves walking a few km however it's not strenuous. There is also a tour bus service but I didn't use that. There...More

It's actually in quite a pretty place considering it was a POW prison. But getting in and out is totally disorganized (even by Chinese standards). And the fully appreciate the historical side of it you'd need a tour guide and be able to understand them.
