Once a summer retreat for emperors, this 290-acre park is still a retreat for the crowd-weary tourist, who can relax here or stroll around ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges and huge lake, stopping occasionally at a shop or tea-house.
One of the most important historical place in Beijing. You can start your tour from north gate of the palace and you need minimum 3 hours to visit this place. You can see amazing view of lotus in this big garden. Also colors are amazing...More
The concept of a marblle boat that would have cost a fortune but has no practical use is mind boggling. Unfortunately has not been cleaned well for years such a pity maybe some of the entrance fee could go towards this. The lake was very...More
The place is really nice but very full. We paid 60 yuan for the all entrance ticket. Our 6 years old son did not need to pay.

This place was beautiful, but have to admit, I was very tired, as we had just spent about 3 - 4 hrs at Tiaramen Square and Forbidden City, and it was extremely hot and humid.
I would recommend you go to the Summer Palace when...More
We came in via north gate from the subway. We arrived around 8:30 am after traveling around an hour from city center. Yay for jet lag! But really, since most Chinese attractions seem to be best visited early in the morning before the large tour...More

OMG the size of this place!
We completely under estimated how large the Summer Palace is, we visited on a weekend, absolutely beautiful day in Beijing and it was jam packed.
We purchased a map 10 RMB at the entry and an all inclusive ticket...More

Out of all the places we have been to in Beijing my favorite was Summer Palace. You wouldn’t be able to see the beauty of it unless you go inside. I would also recommend to get an access to all of visiting places inside the palace as the total cost I believe was around 60 yuan which is very reasonable. We also took a boat tour inside the lake. Beijing is humongous and we ended up extending our trip as each places would take more time than I originally planned. Have fun.
