Kitengela Glass split into two separately owned glass companies 20 years ago. Anselm's glass blowing studio. Kitengela Hot Glass, (with 28 years of expertise) in the planetarium dome makes blown & cast items, beads, lighting and architectural installations in an eco-friendly environment next to the Nairobi National Park. He also has a small cafe serving snacks, coffee and juices. Alternatively Nani's company offers stained glass, occasional rudimentary glass blowing, accommodation and animals. A visit to both companies is recommended, as they have very different ethos and products. The road is all weather, but rocky. Tarmac has been promised - we wait with bated breath. Welcome!

After a drive on standard roads you move onto unmade roads which even with a 4x4 requires careful driving. However the drive is worthwhile when you arrive at Kitengela glass factory. You can observe first hand the skilled glass blowers creating glass structures using their...More

Hiya - glad you liked the experience. The Easter island head used to have glass eyes, but target practices from herdsboys blinded him, so we patched it. Thanks for the review. Anselm

There are really two places here: Anselm Kitengala (the glassware factory) and Kitengala Glass (a more general art studio). Anselm Kitengala is the first place on the left, you have to walk just a bit further down the road to get to Kitengala Glass. Anselm...More

Hiya Daniel. Thanks for the review, and taking the time to visit. Apparently the road is being tarmacked soon - so the days of distance will be a thing of the past. Fingers x-ed! Warm regards, Anselm.

This place is out in the middle of nowhere accessed by a very bumpy road. If using Uber order something other than a passenger car. The factory is like a fairytale land with funky structures, farm animals and a crazy expansion bridge. The glass was...More
