Overview
More
Kitengela Hot Glass - Anselm's glass blowing studio, is located in the planetarium dome on the edge of the Nairobi National Park opposite Silole Sanctuary near Ongata Rongai. Open seven days a week, with continuous demonstrations (demos: 8am-430pm Tuesday - Saturday & 9am-1pm Sunday & Monday), visitors can watch as the skilled craftsmen with 28 years of collective expertise create blown & cast objects and make beads from recycled glass, as well as crafting chandeliers, furniture & panels of light and colour for architectural installations in an eco-friendly space. There is a small cafe serving snacks, coffee & juices. Enjoy the ambiance of humming creativity & bustling industry as you relax, shop and soak in the natural beauty of this extraordinary place. The road is all weather, if somewhat uneven in places. Tarmac has been promised for the last 8 km - we wait with bated breath. There is another glass company next door that is not affiliated. Welcome!

This is the castle of a true artist - none the less remarkable for being somewhat remote. As one can only expect from a master magician, once you've entered their realm, it's all totally unreal, strangely wonderful, and ultimately unforgettable. Whatever you've seen in Africa,...More

Having been to Murano and observed glass blowing expecting older glass blowers. These were all young gentlemen creating outstanding glass works. Al products are made from recycled glass. This shop is used as a training location for glass blowers.

We were disappointed with our visit. It was a long way along a very bumpy track and when we arrived there seemed an air of neglect, everything a bit shabby. Only possible to get an instant coffee (or cold drink.)More

Hiya. Sorry to hear you were disappointed. Perhaps the fact that we have not started our weekend demos yet (they start next weekend) might have made the place seem a little quiet. Actually - we have been very busy spring cleaning, repairing floors, re roofing,...More
