It is called El Tabia (the fort) because there used to be a fortress on this hill. A relatively new building from 1974 in Mamluk style with a huge dome and minarets. Inside alabaster decorations and high above stained glass windows. Worth a visit not...More

You must cover your head and shoulders and the length of your dress or pants must cover your knees. All was explained to us and very interesting people very friendly..

we did not enter but rode in a carriage late afternoon and heard called to prayer. Our guide Abdalla Mohamed had set up other plans for us.

this is the most famous mosque in Aswan called El-Tabia mosque means the fortress mosque because of its location on a hill, the mosque built by president Anwar Sadat 1975 and originally this hill was a military school founded by Mohamed Aly pasha the king...More

Although is not as big as Santa Sofia it has a beautiful layout. In addition has a beautiful view from the city.

A superb mosque inside and out. Very few worshipers at prayer time. We were made welcome ane there is a lot of free literature available in many European languages.

Walking around the streets of Aswan came across this huge and imposing mosque,quite elegant in its construction ,did not venture inside ,but i dare say you can ,just walking around this area is interesting just seeing the day to day life of the local people...More
