Mosques are unusual to us westerners, and this one is specially beautiful. Is is huge and is named after a leader with a very unusual history. He disappeared into the desert at the height of his power. Some think he became a Christian.

There are many better mosques in Cairo but probably few as versatile, the mosque was used as a prison during the crusades, as a stable by Saladin, as a fortress by Nepoleon and fell out of use. Later in 1980’s a Islamic Sect in India...More

Located at El Moeez St. area which nice historical place to see. Smell of history is flying over there and love it , just need more organization.

Not the most interesting mosque in Cairo by a long shot, but not a bad stop. Interesting minarets. It's just inside Bab Al-Futah, the northern gate jn Muizz Street.
