Large monastery and Nunnery that welcomes visitors. The entrance is very ornate, but the interior is spartan and strictly functional. Plan to get there about 11:30 am when the monks and nuns are lining up for lunch. Great opportunity for photographs !

The monastery is closed on the weekends so you won’t be able to find the students or teachers having their lessons. One of the monks advised us to visit on a weekday, about 1030 in the morning.

This was a amazing. We were able to talk to a few of the monks and participate in a lunch event. Its very humbling to see so many monks studying and teaching Buddhist scripture.

Over 600 (both Monks and Novices) are studying. Most of them are quite young and orphan.Something great feeling when seeing their way of living, take care and share to each other, them-self.

One of great monasteries in Myanmar to visit. Kalaywa Sayardaw is one of famous monks in Myanmar. Their teaching is based on Laeti Sayardaw. You can enroll in 10 days retreat mediation class year round. If you want to learn Buddhist, please learn there.
