The Banco de la República Gold Museum houses one of the most important collections of pre-Hispanic metallurgy in the world. As its history, which dates back to 1939, has unfolded, so this institution has become a symbol of Colombia's cultural memory. Its golden exhibition, fully renewed in November, 2008, is a place you cannot miss in your next trip to Bogota.

This museum is a must if you visit Colombia. We did a quick stop with the kiddos and learned a lot about metallurgy and most importantly about Colombia and it's history. Def a must if you want to further learn about this country.

Very nice set up, a lot of stuff to see. Showcases are lean with a big variety of golden objects, from coins to complete dresses

Fantastic museum with gorgeous examples of gold in display. I found the descriptions really lacking for information and highly recommend a tour guide for this museum to get the most of it

If you are interested in learning about the indigenous gold mining practices of the region, this is a nice museum in which to spend an hour. The cost is a very reasonable $4000 cop.

Well laid out museum that shares the history of the area. Included native masks and offerings, gold symbols, and traditional customs.

I just found it kind of dull. There is a lot of beautiful gold, but I did not find the exhibits very interesting. The museum is very professional and beautiful, this just really was not my thing. The price is right though - only 4k...More

This museum was not the most interesting, but for the equivilant of under $1.50 it is obviously still excellent value. The exhibits were a little crowded in the first room, but fine afterwards. The history of metallurgy on the continent is explained and many impressive...More

It appears not. They have a website but the English language version has its limits. On the Spanish version you can find a link to ancient board games complete with instruction on how to play them.
