The museum tour it's interesting at the beggining with story about some legends of the esmerald on Colombia and technical details of the extraction of the stone.
After that first hall, we entered a bigger room (and the final one) with more stones but there was other group with a guide using a speaker and it was really difficult to hear my guide.
The general tour it's short but if you have 30-40 mins it's an interesting to see.

Learned a lot about emeralds and how they are mined. Additionally the difference between the types of emeralds in Columbia and the rest I of the world.
Nice exhibits and of course shopping.
Well done.

Very small collection. Pretty, but don't go out of your way to see it. Felt mostly like a way to sell emeralds to tourists.

a high school project work with fine vistas to the town but just that. A willing student like exponent, meticulous and humorous took us through the stages and the qualities and the four factors: translucency, colour, inclusions, clarity, cut etc. We did not absorb, or rather we absorbed less than form a wikipaedia or equivalent expose. But like whatever is oversold, this one assumed a character well beyond what it constituted. The jewelry specimens were below what you see in a upper middle class european gathering of well jewelled ladies. Security was interestingly underlined and that was to our liking

Reviewed a different Emerald place, but it was this one which was SO hard to find!! I asked at least 6 people, nobody knew where it was (even tho it was close), and there was never a sign. Entered a plastic-covered bank building to find an empty marble downstairs. Had to give a photo ID, have my picture taken, then was escorted up several floors to the Museum (just over $1, tho other info said more). Tiny tour in broken English - got to see emeralds in veins of rock (cool), then a private collection, then - of course - the gift shop. They never said the tour was over, but I was finally escorted, then, back down to the lobby.

A private museum capable of involving the visitor, not only with precious stones but with the whole history of their extraction. Good location for a wonderful view of the Bogota skyline. Very good exposition!

The museum itself is quite small but the girl who presented the tour was quite knowledgeable and nice to talk to. It might not be the best museum in Bogota but it would be a shame to miss out on the tour and on the views from the windows overlooking the city :)

The museum is in the Avianca building. ID is necessary to obtain your pass to get in the building. A guide ushers you up the elevator to the 23rd floor where you pay the fee for entrance. Spanish and English guides available. You quickly move through the wonderful exhibit then you go through a simulated mining operation, showing caches of emeralds in various types of geological formations. From there you are guided into the sales room. We went back to see the balance of the collection passed when starting the tour. The largest stone in Cartagena was worth $100k, I'd be hard pressed to put a value on their premier stone.

My family used to have a jewelry store only emeralds sold. So I was curious to find more about these precious stones. I loved the guided tour. Well explained in detail. A must visit while in Bogota. Also enjoy the amazing views from 23 floor building
