I can see its Minaret from various areas of the city!
For 2 days as I walked and then drove by with my hired driver, I could see its circular, high minaret. First time to see such a beautiful minaret! Located near the Souq Waqif, it is recommended to visit this attraction as well. Took many pictures here to commemorate my visit of this attraction.

Discover Qatar's Islamic Culture at Fanar
My recent visit provided insights into Islamic art, history, and traditions in a contemporary setting. The welcoming staff, coupled with the wealth of information available, made my visit memorable. For anyone keen on exploring the Islamic culture of Qatar, Fanar is an outstanding destination.

Really good. Stunning structure. Looks beautiful at night. Go inside as well.
The structure is unique! Looks stunning at night. My hotel was nearby and I had a lovely view. I went inside during the day. Free to enter. Staff are super friendly and helpful. FANAR Qatar Islamic Cultural Center has a small exhibition displaying Islamic art as you enter. Go further in and there you can learn more about Islam. As a Muslim I learnt a lot that I never knew. Very educational. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome too. I then went to the ladies prayer section to see more of the mosque. I am not sure if non-Muslims can go to this part. They will provide an abaya. Highly recommend. You can combine a visit here with Souq Waqif.

Curious about Islam? This is a great starting point for both new Muslims and those are just curious. A very warm welcome when you get there you are encouraged to watch a 3D headset mounted video about the birth of Islam. It brought tears to my eyes so beautifully done it was. After that a guide will take you through the basic tenants if Islam through a very informative question and answer tour. From there you are taken to the onsite mosque to witness and record If you wish the call to prayer. They will teach you how to pray should you wish to participate in the prayers. I tagged along with another group and took part in most of the tour. There is plenty of free literature to take home with you . Entrance is free. Best time to go is around the various prayer times to make the most of the experience. Well worth going to even If you already follow the Muslim faith as I do.

The amazing architecture of this building always caught my eye when visiting the Souq Waqif. The illumination after dark is especially beautiful. I wish I had a chance to go inside. It is a cultural center that helps visitors understand the religion of Islam. I had several friends who did go to the Cultural Center and had a good experience.

I was honestly expecting more after reading a bunch of reviews. There was no one around to help or direct us anywhere. Being non-muslim it would have been cool to learn more about the culture. Other then the large wall murals with info on them, I didn't learn too much. It felt a bit intimidating, perhaps because we didn't know where we could or couldn't go (From what I understand we are not allowed in the mosque area) Perhaps we just went on a bad day and will have better luck next time. I would like to give it another try seeing as there are some great reviews on here.

I can't thank Adam enough for helping coordinate and hosting such an informative visit to the Cultural Center for a group of 11 college students. He was understanding of the fact we were a bit late due to travel glitches, needing restroom breaks, and the fact most were completely worn out from jet lag and temperatures above 100. He shared so much valuable information and made for a memorable experience. The students got to experience prayer time (the women in abayas), tea in the majalis with a Qatari, learned about Islamic vs Muslim culture and even took a virtual reality trip to Mecca. This is a must (and totally FREE) activity for anyone living in or visiting Qatar!!

If you are looking for a place where you can learn about Muslims, that's the place. They are so kind and gentle and explain everything to you... and not to mention the coffee and the delicious tea they offered every time. Adam is the one who was our guide.... such a great guy! And if you mentioned you are from Brazil.... they will love it!

If you are keen to dive into the Arabic language, try classes at Fanar, the cultural centre here in Doha! Classes are good and you need to study hard to keep up - if you are just going to 'pretend' to learn Arabic, don't bother, it is too hard!

Al-Fanar Islamic Cultural Center is one of the architectural landmarks in the city of Doha. It is beautiful outside and worth walking by but we never attempted to get inside. They offer Arabic lessons, cultural activities, and presentations about Islam, including a mosque tour in the case that a visitor is interested.
